considering all the bat motifs on his armor, do you guys think graf dumas was still a vampire on top of being nightmare? like did he still drink peoples blood?

after listening to a video essay about the "dark lord" archetype in fantasy, i am seeing so many blaring issues with how graf dumas is portrayed in sc5
ive already spoken about how the artbook tells us hes this cunning strategist but that he doesnt really do anything in game to show us this. but im going to go a step further and say hes not really menacing at all. and i find this to be a problem because hes not the ultimate big bad villain in this game, its supposed to be pyrrha. and by making him so pathetic, it really undersells how much of a threat pyrrha is after him
why was he at some random italian coast ravaging a town if not to shoehorn in a "big reveal" that hes nightmare? when realistically i feel like it would have been beneath him to go out of his way to directly lead that assault. it diminishes how much of a threat he really is
i know the starwars prequels are not that well written but imagine if we got a graf dumas arc that feels kinda like palpatine.
imagine if hes this beloved politician, maybe he even regularly hires the schwarzwind mercenaries to come take out malfested. but they have their suspicions. so when they come across patroklos, they might try and get him to spy on dumas for them. maybe dumas knows that patroklos was born with a tainted soul and hoped that he could eventually sway patroklos into being a servant of soul edge like durer azola and solnhoffen. patroklos doesnt want to believe that dumas is nightmare but ends up getting close enough to him that dumas reveals himself
rather than having nightmares fight with pyrrha be the thing that sets her off, make it that tira is pretending to be a loyal henchman to graf dumas with the secret plot to overthrow him. she herself could be the one to set pyrrha off. or she could manipulate the situation to make it that patroklos himself accidentally sets her off. make it much more intentional, the game as it is relies way too much on coincidences
then in order to establish that pyrrha is a bigger threat than nightmare, have it that during the war, nightmare has zwei backed into a corner and that hope seems lost. then pyrrha comes in and kills nightmare. for a moment the story pauses as zwei falsely starts to believe she is on his side. but pyrrha takes soul edge for herself, opens the astral chaos portals and establishes herself as nightmares usurper

Who is Graf Dumas? Is he from later games?
Graf Dumas was a primary antagonist in Soulcalibur V which I have mixed feelings about that game. It could have been amazing and the story beats were all there but it just kinda fell short. Graf Dumas is unofficially officially confirmed to be the animated corpse of Raphael Sorel, resurrected to be the host for the evil sword Soul Edge. Raphael is one of my mains in SC so I found this plot interesting. Especially since they confirmed the amnesiac, Viola, is his daughter Amy Sorel many years later.
