Signs: Graham Hess [ISTJ 1w2]
Functional Order: Si-Te-Fi-Ne Graham is far more down to earth than his son, who leaps to instant conclusions about the crop circles. Instead, he assumes his trouble-making neighbors did it, and calls the sheriff over to have a word with them. When he spots, out of the corner of his eye, an alien on his barn roof, again his mind goes to the most rational conclusion, that the neighbor’s sons are…

Signs (2002)
This isn’t the best sci-fi movie ever, but their relationship is really cute
Some HC’s for Graham and Merrill Hess
I told y’all I had about a page of general stuff for them 😂 And thanks a few anons who wanted me to add them, I have these typed up for y’all!
Graham Hess
Serious type of family man
Overthinks basic actions sometimes
Bad at showing emotions
Protective as fuck, a total dad
Will constantly ask if you are okay, no matter what you’re doing. You could be eating your cereal a bit slower than normal and he thinks something is wrong
Paranoid to the max and constantly checks the news after the incident
Tried so damn hard to lighten up and not be as stiff as before, but just can’t bring himself to curse. He cursed that once when chasing someone off but... he almost cried (he was like 46)
He is a Priest again after all
Personally, used to be a sort of luck-ish kind of guy when he was a priest before his wife died, but now a total miracle believer after Morgan survived his attack
Spaghetti is the absolute comfort food. if it wasn’t for Morgan opposing the thought and say that you can’t have it all the time, you’d have it every night
Water glasses are everywhere! Aliens can suck it
Hugs all the time. You going into another room? Hug. Going to the bathroom? Hug
He has remodeled the basement, just incase another invasion happens to occur, with the coal shaft boarded up. It was supposed to be a bunker but... Merrill, Morgan and Bo wanted it to also be an arcade so... that’s what they got
Merrill Hess
Family man, but much more laid back and fun
Sarcastic and subtle cracks jokes all the time, he’s real childlike
Quick to think on his actions, or doesn’t think at all before he does them
Look if were to scare him by walking up behind him, he’d probably grab the closest thing to him and pelt it at your face
Also paranoid to the max now, and rambles a lot
Researches everything
Probably a total comic nerd
Person ally believes in miracles to happen, based on the time that he almost kissed a girl who would have thrown up in his mouth but... he doesn’t talk about that anymore
Wants to be just like his older brother, Graham and absolutely hates seeing his doubt himself all of the time
Protect the kids at all costs!!!!
Keeps his baseball bat next to the bed at all time. He will beat another Aliens bitch ass again, don’t doubt him
Enjoys morning runs to get his mind off of things. Not necessarily bad thought, but just to clear his mind for the day
Practices his baseball skills every now and then when he’s feeling good, but hates it when people watch him. He tries to not hit as hard for every ball tossed at him, to lower his strike-out count

Functional Order: Si-Te-Fi-Ne
Perceiving Functional Axis:
Introverted Sensing (Si) / Extroverted Intuition (Ne)
Following a tragic event that happened to his wife, Graham lost all faith and revealed his true self as a man of skepticism, facts and reason. He gives his brother an exposé about how people either believe in coincidence or faith, implying that he is in the former category all the way. Everything is what it is, essentially, no need to look any further. In Inferior Ne fashion, it takes him A LOT to convince him that the aliens are real. He will only panic and consult the news once he sees it for himself, literally out in the field. And despite this, he still aggressively shoots down any of his more intuitive-heavy family’s theories and hopes. It’s only though the narrative of the movie that he (is forced) to piece everything together, only in that moment of despair does he understand his dying wife’s wasn’t just mumbling non-sensical words.
Judging Functional Axis:
Extroverted Thinking (Te) / Introverted Feeling (Fi)
True this is pragmatic persona, Graham always operates under the adage of “The simplest explanation is probably the correct one” . He essentially waits for events to unfold piece by piece before he decides to react, but then does so very swiftly. He wants to go near the water because he heard the aliens avoid body of waters. His family wants to stay home however, so fine, let’s just board everything up. Graham has a tendency to shut his anger, resentment and pain deep inside, only expressing himself as a blunt and no non-sense authority figure. But he is clearly battling a lot of demons tearing his very soul apart and as things start to get more dire, his emotions start bubbling to the surface.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
House Traits: hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Even when wracked with grief, Graham provides a stable home for his kids. He focuses on fulfilling their needs and protecting them. It’s hard for him to accept his wife’s death and the aftermath, as he grapples with his faith.
