Pluralizing HOLMES

If you're referring to the Holmses as a group of people, how do you pluralize it?  

Holmses vs. Holmes.

The Holmses (Mycroft, Sherlock and Sherrinford) were a force to be reckoned with.

(Let's assume that I'm not interested in rearranging the sentence to avoid this conundrum.)
