Expressing certainty
One of the ways you can express certainty in mandarin is by using “肯定“. Let’s look at how we can use 肯定 (ken3ding4).
1. Use 肯定 as an adverb to mean ‘certainly’ and ‘with our doubt’.
Example: 你放心，他肯定不打扰你。
2. Use 肯定 as an adjective to mean ‘certain’ or ‘definite’.
Example: 我不要跟你讨论不肯定的情况。
3. You can also use 肯定 as an adjective to mean ‘affirmative’ or ‘positive’.
Example: 我跟经理问问我们可一早一点下班。 经理的回答是啃定的。
