Pokemon of the Week - Granbull
Ahh Snubbull and Granbull! A cute pokemon form all the way back in generation 2! I always thought they were so cute! Especially with Snubbull’s little polka dots and its’ ears (?) poking up beside/ behind its’ face. And Granbull, while definitely bigger and stronger, still manages to retain a lot of the charm that little Snubbull had.
I never used them over much through the years, being a pure Normal type doesn’t interest me much. The change of them being made Fairy type was a nice move that I did not foresee, but I think it makes a lot of sense and works well. While neither form may have the best of stats, they have enough to make them useful! And the move pool of many Normal types is so varied, that switching it to a fairy type, Granbull has quite the nice move pool!
Any which way, this is one pokemon that I can see any young trainer starting out with, and it evolving and being your staunchest friend and protector throughout your lives together. I think that makes for an excellent design. :) I still remember seeing Snubbull for the first time in that pokemon short at the end of the first movie! And later that year, I got a present for my boyfriend of a Christmas themed Snubbull plush, with a hat and bag of...strawberries maybe? And it played some odd Christmas type tune which we never recognized, and assume it’s something Japanese. We still set that Snubbull out every Christmas!
So if you have any interest in this long time pokemon who got a new lease on life in generation 6, please go to serebii.net and read their article with all their suggestions on how to use it in competitive play. I know a lot of those movesets would wrk great in game too! I kinda want to use Snubbull and Granbull...maybe on an all-fairy team sometime?
