Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

The Amazing Digital Circus Finale Spoiler ramble below the cut

Something that's bugged me in the like, 2 days since I watched the finale was during Jax' flashbacks, where the hell was Ragatha?

She appears briefly but like, considering just earlier in the episode when the abstraction happened, Ragatha said that Jax and her used to hang out, the fact that she is simply not present at all during Jax, Ribbit and Kaufmo's hangouts feels weird to me. It feels like it could've been nothing to have had her at least sitting in at the picnic where Ribbit is excited that she got Jax to laugh for the first time in the Circus or something to imply that she had a friendship with the group--a close enough one for her to fight Jax on the request to never talk about Ribbit after their abstraction which is supposedly what lead to their falling out-- I know Ragatha's entire thing is that basically nobody in the Circus likes her no matter how hard she tries to people please, but it's just odd to me that we get this whole montage to make us feel sad and sorry that Jax went on to freeze out and then isolate Ribbit from their friend group because of his own paranoia over whether or not she''d out him to the others, when that's basically Ragatha's entire deal every day in the circus. Jax didn't even have a door representing his thoughts/feelings on Ragatha when Zooble got a Loony Tunes gag. It's just so...jarring to me, that these two probably had the longest friendship/relationship/whatever you would call their dynamic in the series bar what Ragatha had with Kinger and she's not even a footnote in his abstraction.

Also low key kinda surprised Glitch never held like, a raffle or auction to have someone's Circus-Sona or whatever cameo in the flashback or whatever because the idea that Kaufmo was also Zooble and Gangle's first abstraction really fucking changes the vibe of the Pilot.

there is A Lot in dunmeshi that hits hard in various ways but for me, one of the top things of all time is the outfit laios chooses when he becomes king. you know his whole life he's probably tried to be more like other people so he fits in, putting on the Human Façade i'm so familiar with putting on myself. and when he becomes king he instead wraps himself in a literal monster skin, made from his own monster form which is his true idealized form. do you see? when he puzzled out "how can i make them take me seriously," his ultimate answer is to stop masking completely and appear more as himself than he ever has. for me that is such a powerful character growth moment and i really really love it.
