Just wondering, why do you exclude Erin's due date information but keep her birth weights? They would also affect the average by being preemie and therefore much smaller than her siblings' kids, wouldn't they?

Wow, this is a really good point! Would you believe it if I said... Honestly, I didn’t even think about it? Y’all are right, though. The Paine Children are smaller (at birth), as a result of Erin’s extremely early deliveries. There’s no way that that doesn’t affect their size. So, now that I think about it, I agree that it’s appropriate to exclude their Birthweight & Length data from the Overall Bates data.

Obviously, we need a “rule” for this. Here’s the rule: If a baby is born at or after 37 Weeks (“early term”), their Birthweight / Length will count in the Overall Duggar or Bates Average. If not, it won’t. Thus far, only Erin + Chad’s children have been born prior to 37 Weeks, so all others are included. Applying this new rule, here’s the ‘typical’ GrandBates’s Weight / Length, at birth—

Weight 6 Pounds, 12 Oz.

Length 19 Inches

Hi! Not really a stat question I guess but can you list how many Duggar and Bates grandkids are the firstborn grandkids for families? Like how Felicity was grandduggar #12 but the #1 for the Vuolo side?

How Many GrandDuggars / Bateses Are “Firstborn Grands”?

For the Duggars…  Weirdly enough, all of them are, except for Gideon Forsyth and Duggar–Burnett #1.  Here’s the list—

In Part 1, we talked about Duggar Name Reveals.

As for the Bateses…  So far, they have announced every GrandBates’s name, prior to birth.  (If Carlin waits, that would be a first!)  Most of the time, they do the name reveal with the sex reveal; however, there have been a few “casual” reveals on Instagram, and a few joint pregnancy, sex, and name reveals.  The details of each name reveal are as follows…

Zach + Whitney’s Children—

Bradley Gilvin   One day during the pregnancy, Zach + Whitney casually mentioned on Instagram that they were registering for their baby shower for “Bradley.”  (They hadn’t announced the sex at that point, so this was a de facto sex reveal, as well.)  

Kaci Lynn   Zach + Whitney revealed Kaci’s name on their Instagram, at the same time that they announced her sex.  This was before the birth.

Khloé Eileen   Before the birth, Hollywood Life simultaneously revealed Khloe’s name and sex.  Whitney is due November 10, 2019.  

Erin + Chad’s Children—

Charles Stephen / “Carson”   Erin + Chad revealed his sex, name, and nickname (“Carson”) in advance, on an episode of Bringing Up Bates.

Brooklyn Elise   She Knows did an exclusive, simultaneously revealing Brooklyn’s name and sex, partway through Erin’s pregnancy.  

Everly Hope   People announced everything—the pregnancy, sex, and name—in one fell swoop.

Holland Grace   Hollywood Life simultaneously announced the sex and name.  Erin is still pregnant, and is due December 27, 2019.

Alyssa + John’s Children—

Allie Jane   During the pregnancy, OK! Magazine did an exclusive article to reveal Allie’s name and sex.

Lexi Mae   Shortly before the birth, Alyssa posted photos of the nursery on Instagram with hashtag #LexiMae—thus, revealing Lexi’s name.  The sex was announced earlier, at the same time as the pregnancy.

Zoey Joy   Us Weekly simultaneously announced the pregnancy, name, and sex.

Robert Ellis / “Kade”   During Tori’s pregnancy, Entertainment Tonight exclusively revealed his sex and full name, along with the nickname of “Cade.”  Later in the pregnancy, the Bates Family’s Instagram used the nickname “Kade,” indicating the correct spelling.

Willow Kristy   Hollywood Life simultaneously announced the sex and name, prior to Willow’s arrival.

Stewart #1   Carlin just announced her pregnancy.  She hasn’t yet told us the sex or name, and it might not even know the sex yet.

Thanks for Asking!  Anon, you’re right that there is a GrandBates Birthday in all 12 Months, so far, except for February, September, and December.  As of now (September 13, 2019), here’s when the first Third–Generation birth is expected in those months—

February   Stewart #1; 2–18–20  (Bates Data)

September   Balka #2, 9–22–20

December   Holland Grace Paine; 12–1–19

Surprisingly, you can see that it’s expected to happen really soon!  Like…  Next year!  Absolutely insane.  That’s insane.
