Winter Holiday Dividers - Classics
If you use these, tag me or use @/madamesocs. A sort of traditional Christmas vibe with this one. If you spent your day with Grandma while it was chilly outside.
Dear Dead Days - art by Charles Addams (1959)
Come to think of it, Granny Frump as Morticia's mother had the most characterization changes throughout the Addams Family incarnations, cause at least Grandmama Addams was consistently frizzy white haired and shawled.
Anyway, here's Granny Hester Frump (1964) as a true frump, Granny Frump (1991-1993) as the bohemian witch, Griselda Frump (1998) as the campy cackler, and Grandmama Hester Frump (2025) as the sleek vamp
I have finished Wednesday season 2, after having to take a break after episode 2 bc I couldn't stand what they were doing. My conclusion is that if you just focus on the ~30% that's really good, then it's not that bad. Like season 1, it's filled with really good moments. It is however also filled with some god awful ones.
Wednesday : season 2 - Part. 2 - Quotes
"- How's our little cadaver? (Gomez) - The doctor suggested I read to her. I chose Macbeth. Nothing like death, despair, and dismemberment to try and snap her out of her coma." (Morticia - Episode 5)
"- Your hubris has yet again made you the architect of your own demise. (Larissa Weems) - I didn't think death could make you any more condescending. (Wednesday) - And your arrogance has only made you more insufferable. I'm here to make sure that you don't scorch the earth any further. (Larissa Weems) - Scorched earth is just a warm-up. I aim for total incineration." (Wednesday - Episode 5)
"- I live here, remember ? You're probably still sore from your injuries.(Enid) - Pain reminds me that I'm still alive." (Wednesday - Episode 5)
"- Who are you talking to? (Enid) - No one. (Wednesday) - Okay, I'm going to blame this conversation on your head trauma. (Enid) - Your silence is deafening. (Weems) - If you're not gonna give me my psychic ability back, you're dismissed. (Wednesday) - I'm not a genie. I don't grant wishes. If you want your ability back, that starts with an honest self-assessment." (Weems - Episode 5)
"- Your Uncle Fester had a chupacabra when he was about your age. No matter how much of his blood he gave it to drink, it wasn't meant to be a pet." (Gomez - Episode 5)
"- Who would be reckless enough to try? I... I strongly recommend that you don't entertain the idea. - Of course not. That would be insane." (Episode 5)
"- I was going to have Lurch burn all of the Thornhill's things. Your preferred method of destroying vital information that I need?" (Episode 5)
"- We never really got a chance to talk since you woke up. - I'm most comfortable with uncomfortable silence." (Wednesday - Episode 5)
"- Thornhill was psychotic. But genius and madness are strange bedfellows." (Wednesday - Episode 5)
"- Please. We both know there isn't an altruistic bone in your body. This is about your pathological need to control everything." (Weems - Episode 5)
"- Hate is a feeling, Miss Addams. Along with fear, contempt, concern, and love. All emotions you think can be boxed up and stored in your subconscious. But that boy is a ticking time bomb. If you don't find a way to defuse it, it could explode at the most calamitous moment." (Weems - Episode 5)
"- I've always believed that to be haunted is a choice. What we are really haunted by is our past. No matter how hard we try to shake it free, it has us by the teeth. (Wednesday) - Oh, fiddlesticks! (Enid) - If this past haunts us... the present is a graveyard that requires payment for transgressions." (Wednesday - Episode 5)
"- But that strength demands emotional clarity. I don't need to deal with any emotions, and I don't need to cater to my mother's maudlin need to insert herself into my life. (Wednesday) - Your lack of empathy is what makes you the weak link, spiritually speaking. (Weems) - I'm the only link that matters. (Wednesday) - What a bold move for somebody who has no poker face." (Weems - Episode 6)
"- He's just trying to live his life now that he's got a second chance. (Pugsley) - Your heart is as soft as your skull. Can your pea brain remember anything else?" (Wednesday - Episode 6)
"- I crank up my psychic sight so I can spy on old enemies. Just a few flashes of their suffering. Usually brightens my mood. (Wednesday) - Did it ever occur to you that we're all just trying our best? (Enid) - Trying your best means you're planning on failing and letting me know in advance." (Wednesday - Episode 6)
"- Or was that your girlfriend you failed to mention in an act of time-honored, misogynistic deception?" (Enid - Episode 6)
"- Your newfound cynicism is refreshing." (Wednesday) - Only you would leave psychic scar tissue in a body swap." (Enid - Episode 7)
"- It may have been pernicious, but it was enlightening." (Episode 7)
"- We didn't speak again. - Spare me your saccharine stroll down memory lane." (Wednesday - Episode 7)
"- I'm just relieved that you're unscathed. (Grandmama) - Neither of us have an iota of compassion. (Wednesday) - It's one of our most endearing traits. The bigger the offer, the sweeter the grovel. (Grandmama) - You want to see the whites of his eyes when you reject him. (Wednesday) - There are few greater thrills than witnessing the exact moment when a man's spirit is broken. Time to put Dort out of his misery. If he hasn't drowned in his flop sweat already." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- I knew you'd come under my black wing eventually. You may be an Addams, but you're a Frump at heart. What little heart you have." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- My ego has never been more expertly stroked. But flattery is like formaldehyde. It is to be sniffed, never swallowed." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- You said the only charity in life was a quick, painless death." (Wednesday - Episode 7)
"- Being an Outcast is a state of mind. - No, dear. That's a platitude losers say to make them feel like winners." (Episode 7)
"- You've involved my family, so that's an impossibility. Dort is blackmailing you and your mother, isn't he? That's why you Siren-songed my grandmother." (Wednesday - Episode 7)
"- The four horsemen of the apocalypse would have to gallop through her tombstones before that woman gave a cent to this school." (Wednesday - Episode 7)
"- All right. There you go. Excuse me. (Morticia) - Where's Wednesday? (Hester) - We're barely on speaking terms at the moment. (Morticia) - Well, now you know what it feels like, Morticia, to be despised by a child to whom you've given everything. I guess we have that in common. (Hester) - Look at us. One big unhappy family. (Wednesday) - I made sure you have the seat next to mine, as I need your input on the list of teachers to terminate." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- Morticia, it's probably best you didn't follow me into the family business. I've been to funerals with more life than this gala." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- Now that's what I call a thrilling climax." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- You must make a very sizable donation to Nevermore in his honor. (Wednesday) - Are you resorting to emotional blackmail? (Grandmama) - There's nothing emotional about it. It's just blackmail." (Wednesday - Episode 7)
"- Only you could throw a gala that begins with a fiery murder and ends with a shattering death." (Grandmama - Episode 7)
"- You need to work together, and to pool your psychic abilities to locate him." (Weems) - My mother is a Dove who's blind to malevolence, and my psychic ability is currently on an unauthorized leave of absence." (Wednesday - Episode 8)
"- Mama, I appreciate you coming back on such short notice. (Wednesday) - Why would anyone bother kidnapping Pugsley? Not to cas aspersions, but I know higher value corpses than that boy. (Grandmama- Episode 8)
"- Now we must clear our minds of all past grievances. - My past grievances are like fine wine. They get better with age." (Grandmama - Episode 8)
"- I realized that our breakup wasn't about me. You know, it's nobody's fault that your feelings changed. So I can either be angry about it, or I can just accept it and move on." (Ajax - Episode 8)
"- Knowing you were cut from the literal cloth of an evil genius, it makes sense why we're so compatible." (Episode 8)
"- Secrets are the bedrock of the Addams family. Toxic and festering just below the surface." (Episode 8)
