By prick of Pin and Cushion of Couch
So the number one rule of folk magic is you don't know why it works you just know that it does. That's about how this little trick was explained to me by my aunty. What you'll need: -A Sewing Pin -A Couch or Mattress So you've lost something. You've overturned every cushion, tossed every blanket, and yet it is still missing. You're at a loss, what do you do? Well if you asked me, I'd say you should stick a sewing pin in your couch or your mattress and ask for the item to return to you. I know. If you're not already folk magic inclined that probably sounds a bit odd but it works. And it's all you have to do. I consider this a must-know for Appalachian & southern folk magic so if that's your end game, next time you loose something; give this a shot!
Happy PSL Day to those who celebrate from me & Twig 🎃🍂
Okay, so no fancy portrait for 'Meda, but I'm sorting everyone out!! I hope y'all like these? Luckily sorting out art for fun as I'm enjoying these last couple weeks of break!
Andromeda!! Her last name, Shaw, is from Old Irish, so I ran with the idea of her being a redhead, and loved giving her a nice string nose? I'm hella partial to those 😅💖 Also an "I'm watching you" scowl cause she's like that 🤣.
Halina!! My lovely lil Polish girl!! Left is my first drawing of her, and the right is my more realistic-leaning portrait? Gave her a cute speckling of moles, and also some dark hair since I realized I don't have too many OCs w that? Sweetheart surviving the apocalypse 👌💖
She's a fun character to be figuring out, esp. since she's so hopeful and ripe for shattering to bits 😈 (before fixing of course).
BRIGID. I've gotten hella attached to her?? Partially due to the research I've done for her and partially cause she's a bundle of fun tropes 💕💖💕
So in researching the Melungeon people, and since she'd be from Georgia, I got to enjoy combining all sorts of faces for her including Eastern Cherokee, Black, and Scottish features? She's got lovely 3A/3B curls that I adored (and struggled with) drawing and a cute lil gap between her canine and incisor?
Any thoughts or random comments/questions welcome!! Gotta color my newer Bee stuff before I post those 👌.
me all year: it’s falllllllllllllllllllllllll

A page in my witchy notes about Ozark weather divination through the moon. This information comes from Ozark Magic and Folktales by Vance Randolf. A moon on its side with its ‘horns’ facing up--- This moon can hold water, and therefore no rain shall come in the near future. A usual crescent moon--- Can no longer hold water, thus it will not prevent the rain. A moon low in the Southern sky-- Indicates the arrival of an extreme drought. A ring around the moon-- Indicates extreme weather, such as snow. Counting the stars inside of the ring will tell you how many days away the weather is. Zero stars means that the weather is less than one day away. No rain on a new moon-- Indicates very little rainfall until the next new moon.
Stars appear faded or dim--Expect a large rainfall soon.
Me: Goes to Hobby Lobby
Me: Remembers how Christian they are
Me: Justifies buying shit there because it's for literal witchcraft and I'm petty and also my magic comes from religious scotch-irish families and granny witches who mixed witchcraft and that cross guy.
Me: Enjoys seeing the cashier's face after they ask what projects I have planned with all these black candles and jars when I say "Worship rituals" as they try to process what the actual fuck I just meant.
