Generally when I say a character is a favorite, I mean that I find them well-written, well-acted, consistently complex, and unfailingly compelling to watch. It doesn’t necessarily mean I think they’re good people or that I even like them on a personal level (that would have to be a list of like “My Top 10 Fictional Baes/Babies” or something).
