okay so, we later find out that this was Ford’s bedroom/study/whatever, right. 

which, when you think about it...makes it a little bit weird that Experiment 78 is in there. just. on the floor. a carpet that makes people switch bodies, which is easily activated, potentially by accident, just by shuffling around on it, and Ford just left it right smack in the middle of his room.

I mean, we know that Ford did put it there, because we can see it in ATo2S:

we don’t know where it came from or if Ford entirely knew what it did, but clearly he knew it did something, since it’s labelled and all. 

so at most Ford knew it was a body-switching carpet and at the least he knew it was some kind of artifact that did something he-didn’t-know-what, and either way he chose to leave it on the floor of his room where it would presumably get walked on all the time. 

what I’m saying is, do you think this led to an incident where Ford and Fiddleford accidentally swapped bodies, because I feel like the answer to that question is probably yes.

(one also wonders how this carpet would interact with someone possessed by Bill, which may have been why Ford was studying it...)

Gravity Falls Speculation

One thing that was never clear to me is that if the Society of the Blind Eye went around erasing villager’s memories of the abnormal things they saw, why were Dipper and Mabel the exclusion? Sure, it could have been that they weren’t in the open with their findings, but I’m curious as to how they never found out when they first met the gnomes.

I don’t think Stanley is Dipper’s real name.  If Journal 3 tells us his name, it will probably be “Martin” for the sake of alliteration with “Mabel”.  And so they can make a “pine martin/Martin Pines” joke.

Okay but you know how at the end of every gravity falls episode in season two, there's that journal page thing? And how there's two missing, but just one real episode left? What if the other one is at the end of Between the Pines?

Something I noticed, and I'm sure others have as well: Both his black sash and the crack in his glasses are gone in this scene. That's some of the reason why I don't think this is really Ford; rather just Bill's projection to Ford of "what it would be like if he joined him". Probably to convince Ford to do just that, since it's looking like Bill really needs info that Ford probably has on how to get out of the barrier.

Gravity Falls Ending Speculation

Not knowing how exactly everything will be resolved, I hope the final ending will involve one of 2, possibly 3, things 1) Summer Loop - some time travel is involved, and Dipper and Mabel restart the summer with knowledge of what's to come. They use it to correct future mistakes. Possible because time travel does exist, but not a permanent loop. 2) All Cleaned Up - after Bill is defeated, the town is rebuilt/magically restored. The townspeople and magical creatures know of/live peacefully with each other. At the end, Stanley and Ford go off with each other on their boat to explore the world *cue tears*. 3) Other Happy Ending - like option 2, but with Dipper and Mabel commenting on how summer ends eventually, as do all good things for a little while, but they'll be back next year. Ends with that, and with the Grunkles staying at the shop. I'm guessing a combo of 2 and 3, possibly with both types of endings: Grunkles leaving on a boat, coexistence with creatures, and Dipper and Mabel commenting they'll be back eventually. Either way *cue tears*

A few speculations for what's in Mabel's bubble: Neon 80's esq paradise. Complete with electric organs 24/7 Hot guy world. It's just the labyrinth word for word scene for scene the labyrinth. But bearo is David Bowie. Groundhog version of every episode of Gravity Falls and Mabel is the only one aware of it, she tries repeatedly for everything to work out in a way that everyone is happy but it's impossible to make everything go right. (Ex: every time Dipper backed out on something he wanted to do Mabel backs out instead. Giving fake Dipper the perfect summer. But driving them further apart instead.) Mabel and Dipper going their separate ways as if Weirdmageddon never happened/Dipper actually leaves and they grow old and repeat the Stan's mistake. (Mabel's worse nightmare) A nice summer, but the canned and perfect responses from everyone is horrible and creepy. Mabel attempts to escape the perfect summer as everyone is ominously nice.

I think the best ending of the I assume to be three part weirdmageddon would be Bill's weakness. It's calling his mom. Call the all powerful demon's mom. And she drags him and his friends back through the rift scolding all the way. It's probably just getting everyone on the cipher wheel together and having a mlp power of friendship power up or something. But the mom thing would be funny.
