What does Kiera do to blow off steam? What does Gray do to relax? <3
AHHHHH OMG IS THIS IS THE FIRST ASK ABOUT MY OCS?!!! idek i think so!! i haven't been on here in a lil bit.
AHHHHHHHHHYAYYYYYY!! thank you! <3
hmm...
Kiera's a pretty stubborn hero, so she'd often clashing with others, especially since she's got strict moral values and is loath to commit anything she sees as 'evil', whether it is or isn't (this is both a good trait and a flaw). her vision of the world is SUPER black & white/good vs bad, because she's kind of been conditioned/lied to so much.
anyway, all that to say that blowing off steam is something she's constantly doing. unlike Gray, she's not very good at suppressing emotions (she tries, and she can do it, but she's often overwhelmed if too much is happening and suppressing it only makes her feel worse). back to the ask: Kiera likes taking walks when she's irritated, like if her day's going crazy in a normal life way or her feelings are hurt, because its easy for her to get overwhelmed with her emotions. the air clears her head and focuses her mind on positive things (sunshine + chirping birds is literally her cure!).
when Kiera's furious, however, or really upset, she shuts down and can't stomach going outside and letting people see her like this; she usually sits down on the bedroom carpet in her house and just talks to herself (she can go anywhere from berating herself to trying to walk through the thing making her upset and come up with a solution to just muttering i don't know or i'm sorry over and over). yeah hope that made sense? she's very reactive and if something hurts her she'll deal with it there, no matter what people think, but sometimes her general life just gets really overwhelming and she hides in her house (away from the windows in case she's seen) and loses it, and just breaks down. she also suffers from panic attacks when things spiral out of control (issues with change) and it feels like her heart is burning. the first time she had one she thought she was dying.
yeah, so she's struggling but mostly she just has no one to talk to. she also understands the importance of self-love and if she feels herself growing unsteady she makes herself a cup of coffee to hold onto (that one poem about making tea because of self-directed love? that's her; found it, it's Leila Chatti's Tea) and it helps her center herself, even if she doesn't drink it, she likes the feeling; it sucks tho because the other heros think she's wasteful and just likes feeling pretentious (i can't help myself, her life is full of angst).
NOW! Gray...
It is SOOO hard for Gray to relax. he literally is ALWAYS on alert. ironically, when Kiera appeared at his doorstep, he had been relaxing, but that was rare. usually he changes into sweats to feel more human and less the villain that everyone thinks he is. he hates radios/podcasts/tv shows in the background because the sound stresses him out, but a soft fan or open windows are his thing. he doesn't mind chatter from the street as long as it's not blaring. Gray likes classical music and actually has pretty good taste (Tchaikovsky, Bach, Ludovico Einaudi) he doesn't mind it playing as long as it's gentle, and his house even has a grand piano in a room Kiera hasn't seen yet. he really likes standing in front of a window and taking it all in, he'll watch the outside world for hours, but from the comfort of his house. even balconies make him nervous. he likes natural light, and open space makes him relax. he's not really into reading/having something in his hands at all because he's always worried about being ambushed.
unlike Kiera, Gray can handle his emotions better, mostly because he suppresses them. he kNOWS its bad but it doesn't stop him from shoving things down sometimes. its less like what Kiera tries to do (which is go numb) and more just wanting the panic and anticipation to go away, so he'll stand at windows for hours and ignore the fear because he can focus on better things. also, he is a villain, but having something to do where he's still mobile/able to move, like cleaning or helping someone who's a little sick by tidying their things; he loves cleaning.
and cooking. Gray is a really good cook, and when people compliment him he feels more like a good person than ever;usually civilians are throwing insults and curses at him :((
yeah this is pretty much it for that! Gray doesn't mind companionship when it's peaceful/soft (sick people talk less, not that he wants them to BE sick, he just prefers quietly doing things to help out, more for peace of mind not physical relaxation ig; cleaning helps him enter a good mood so that he can stand in front of his window and unwind even more IN A CLEAN SPACE) and open spaces help him relax. Kiera is always in pain. walks help, and coffee (with creamer because she thinks black coffee tastes the way old tires and cement smell)
tysm for the askkkk! i always yap a lot when i get these because there's not many (my inbox has been empty for days so i appreciate the submission!!) so yeah i love long-winded talks ab my ocs!
What kind of life would Gray want to live if he could start over and literally do anything (doesn't matter how unrealistic, just dreams and wishes, even if it means bringing ppl back from the dead or being a billionaire or literally anything)?
(I asked this for my stubborn oc and found it really helpful in developing him!!)
AHH this is such a good question! All of your asks are so deep, and i love interacting so thank you <3
So...
Gray is a 'villain' because the heroes, in their journeys to glory, ignore innocent casualties. For most of them, the ends justify the means and Gray finds that despicable. The reason he helped Kiera is actually bc she's one of the few heroes who care about civilians.
I think that's important to understand; he's not a literal villain, more so someone who isn't a hero. And, yeah, he does support the villains' ideologies bc a lot of them are like him. Not all, not even most, but a LOT.
Gray deals with so much slander and hate from people for being one of the more notorious figureheads for the villain community, so he really does wish he could start over a lot of the time.
However, he's really more focused on people than places. A luxury penthouse means nothing if there's no one to share it with. Money means nothing if he can't help others. Bringing people back from the dead is one thing he really wishes he could do...
Gray became a villain because his best friend was a civilian casualty during a stand-off between two cocky heroes. Gray was unable to save him, and he hates himself for it. If he could bring any person back from the dead, it would be Leo.
He knows that's impossible, though. He dreams about it all the time, and wakes up in the morning with sorrow pushing down on his chest. He wishes Leo was with him.
That's Gray's true greatest wish, unattainable thought it might be.
As for possible scenarios...
I could say his true desire is to live on a mountain and mourn Leo forever, but that does him an injustice. Gray liked Leo because he was alive and happy; his haunting ghost only brings a LOT of pain.
What Gray really wants is company. Someone to talk to, make coffee for (oh my god you'll never guess who like coffee in their hands!) make sure they're happy. Someone who will fill the empty silence with warmth. He grieves Leo so fiercely because when he lets him go, he truly will be alone.
And he isn't ready to be alone. So the grief buries itself in his chest and keeps him company while he waits for someone to grab a shovel and dig it out of his lungs. Plant new seeds in its place and witness them grow into flowers.
on a completely totally 100% unrelated note, Kiera is a gardener.
