HOLY SHIT YES FUCKING YES THE VERY TITLE OF THIS VIDEO GETS ME
I'm so sorry older movies don't overuse closeups and cut every 2 seconds. Doesn't make them plays, kids.

(about 12 never mentioning Clara) I think Moffat made the right choice to not follow in RTD's footsteps partly because he probs saw how annoying the Doctor was during S3 but also because 12 mentioning Clara every 2 seconds like 10 did with Rose probably would have felt very OOC. Like, everything between Clara and the Doctor was so unsaid and subtle. Ten and Rose were swanning around clearly all loved up where as 12 and Clara were a bit less in your face. It would have been weird if 12 were to just start mentioning her every two seconds.
And while I love the memory loss storyline, I do sometimes think the Doctor losing his memories of Clara was probably just there as an easy way for Moffat to close the door on Clara's time with the Doctor, start fresh with Series 10 and make it so that the Clara mentions in S10 weren't suspiciously lacking. But I mean Series 10 begins 100 or so years after the events of Hell Bent so Moffat really didn't have to do the memory thing, he could have just been like, "Well, it's been 100 years, of course the Doctor wouldn't be mentioning Clara every two seconds." Where as with Ten in S3, Rose leaving was still very fresh so (while he was annoying af) her being on his mind a lot did make sense. Idk where i was going with this lmao.
All round sound points, @minimoefoe, thanks for sharing them! I especially like when you said "everything between Clara and the Doctor was so unsaid and subtle," that's a great point in this context.
Your ask (and the other great responses I've been seeing on this issue) have had a positive effect on taking the edge off my previously well-entrenched bitterness regarding Clara's absence in S10, so that is much appreciated!
