Day 4: The Great Commandment I guess, weâre thinking about the title, or âWhat are those in âadditionâ to the existing Ten Commandments?â The title means that Jesus speaks about the commandments with the extreme emphasis (Ten Commandments), that are already summarized and fulfilled, not abolished and taken out. And also, those are not additions, He said it in the sense that weâre not only just to âunderstandâ it but to come to think what we had disobeyed and what sin that we need to ask Him for the forgiveness? âLove you God with all of our hearts, souls, and mindâ - it summarizes the 1st to 4th Commandments (Exodus 20:3-11). What consumes our time much more than Him? How we live a life, and we communicate? Do we really love Him in His way He wants us to love Him, or our own way? âLove our neighbor as we love ourselves.â - it summarizes 5th to 10th commandments. Did we hated anyone before or until now? Did we bear unforgiveness to those who had hurt us? A myriad of questions about interpersonal relations will arise (regardless of relations and situations). The two Great Commandments are quite reciprocal, and it makes us asking ourselves and self-reflecting for what are those things we did both praiseworthy to the Lord and not. However, if we disobey one or all of it, we can still admit it to the Lord with truthfulness and ask for the forgiveness, and He is faithful and just to cleanse us. Yes, we are still sinners, but as long as we are experiencing His grace and mercy, we can come to Him with humility. Though, the consequences of our sins are already there, be ready to learn a lesson from it and live as what Jesus did in this world.
