MIGRAINE BOY by American cartoonist, Greg Fiering.
The character appears on the inside sleeve of R.E.M.’s MONSTER (1994).
The 1990s: when “alternative” bands would always follow up a moody and melodic (and successful) album with one that was loud and harsh, you know, to prove they weren’t trying to be—dirty word alert—COMMERCIAL.
I sort of like MONSTER now, though. At the time I was disappointed. Well, not really maybe, as I was so into The Beatles around that time that all other bands basically ceased to exist for me.
The front cover, featuring a blurry photo of a “Giant Carnival Balloon” of a bear, was designed by Greg Bilheimer.
