Gandalf is ok. We are both wiped from today's ordeal. For those not following my stories, I posted some of this there, but wanted to expand upon it here. This morning after his feeding, he started yowling in pain and would get louder and hiss if I picked him up or when he would attempt to groom himself. His body also started shivering uncontrollably. After multiple attempts finding him a vet/hospital that could take him (the hospitals are absolutely shite out here save for his primary dr and one hospital I found, but both where overwhelmed and couldn't take him in) I finally scored and rushed him in. Because he's a sneaky little bastard (I say that with so much love for him), he decided to then stop shivering and yowling. Convenient. He likes to hide his symptoms! The doctor did bloodwork, a urinalysis, and x-rays, and determined that Gandalf has a really nasty UTI, elevated kidney values (prob from uti), dehydration, and a blockage in his intestine. They proceeded to treat with fluids, antibiotics, and something to help the blockage along the way. Several hours later he was cleared to go home under supervision and medication. Gandalf returned to yowling the second he saw we were going back into the car. He hates cars. I secured him in his carrier and off we went. This little man freaked out so bad and began panting so I squeezed my hand into his carrier to try to calm him. It worked until he realized he could break free, so he did... while I was driving. My life may have flashed before my eyes. There was no way for me to safely pull over, and luckily there were no cars on the road, so I drove with a cat clinging to me. Thankfully I was less than 5 minutes away from home, and he had calmed down significantly by then. So yeah. Today was eventful. I'm just glad he's slowly feeling better.
