What a wild and busy weekend! I shot the Sud de France Nîmes world indoor championship and won gold!! 🥇 This is always an amazing tournament and even with all the covid protocols in place, it went very smoothly. The 2021 SoCal Showdown is in the books and I'm coming home with a hard fought BRONZE! Physically it's been a tough week, my Crohn's has been flaring and my EDS is too. The joints in my lower body haven't been cooperating, my foot bones have been wandering around inside my foot: FYI, that hurts a lot! I stuck it out and kept my mental program running, keeping positive, staying strong. My equipment performed flawlessly. I haven't been able to keep my physical conditioning up to my usual level, being sick and my father in law dying really has been hard. So this bronze really means a lot to me and I know what I'm going to be working on for the future. Even the ableist comment about not having my cane on the podium can't ruin my day. Some highlights from competition this week at the world ranking event and Pan American Championship combo that @usaarchery competed in here in Medellín, Colombia. We had some great outcomes, bringing home lots of medals! Things are different with the covid restrictions, but it's beautiful here and I shot really well. Of course I forgot my quiver, so I had to borrow a quiver and, more importantly, a finger tab. Coach Dee loaned me an early Venom tab from @black_mamba_archery (thank you!) and I had some good results. Unfortunately, someone messed with my primary bow (Elvis) during ranking round. I've heard of that happening but I've never experienced it. I guess I'm a threat now 🤣 But I used my back up bow (Priscilla) that I just finished putting together Saturday before coming here and got gold, so I'm pretty happy. I shot the primary at open practice yesterday after we fixed it and he's much better now! The food has been good and lots of help finding gluten free food which has been amazing. It was a very hot weekend, especially trying to walk to the target in a mask. I think the Morgan County Soccer Complex is a great venue and that Every Arrow Counts archery club did a great job. I haven't shot 70 m in a year, and I could feel it. Between shooting the tournament tuning the bow and trying to get a 60 m sight setting for Nationals, I shot 200 arrows on Saturday. So I was pretty tired for Sunday for eliminations. But I feel really proud of my mental game and how positive I stayed, and how on task and focused I was able to be, using my mental program that I've been working with @mental.management on. I feel like I've been putting in the work to really have a successful outdoor nationals, but I'm just going to keep on working hard cuz that's who I am! Archery is a natural socially distanced sport, just keep your masks on when scoring and pulling arrows and you're good. Pretty arrows!! Pretty, pretty! Getting everything spiffy for #outdoornationals next week. I have my color scheme in my #griffinvanes in #captainmarvel and #wonderwoman colors as well as my bow. Why? Cause they're the best super heroes around! Oh, I just realized I need a mask in @captainmarvelofficial print. I neeeeeed one! I've put thousands of arrows downrange this summer, it's all about putting in the work, and working on me.
