Me: it's especially true if it's a cause, and not just self defense + pragmatics [as with Wolfwood]
like...Knives keeps having to say "it's for the plants." It's not enough to say he was trying to protect himself and Vash, cuz let's be real, he killed millions of people and who knows how many plants to do it
what if that's why Vash gets so doctrinaire in the opposite direction in the anime? cuz he's afraid if he lets himself kill even once he'll keep killing more and more?
meanwhile you have wolfwood not falling into that trap in the same way/to the same extent cuz he's not really doing it for a cause? it's like "I had to kill so & so to protect myself or the people I love cuz there was no other alternative in the moment, it wasn't great but what other choice did I have"

That's the best I've ever expressed that idea lol, cuz now I understand why he'd be afraid of that, from seeing Knives

Me: and of course the question about "how different are Wolfwood and Knives really" is a silly one from Vash's pov in the sense that they both get a chance at redemption; everyone does. It would be more of a matter of scale from his pov, probably...and willingness to change.
Grigorii: And to Knives pov why would he care about being redeemed if it means appealing to the humans! His family accepts him besides Vash
Me: yeah, all he would care about is whether Vash forgives him or thinks he's redeemed enough
