TodoMomo- 😍 - otp (Listen, okay. This is The Ship™ for me in My Hero Academia. My Number One OTP folks. This was probably the first ship I had as the minute I got to their test against Aizawa I became trash for this ship for real.)
IzuOcha- 😍 - otp (It’s funny because I don’t talk about this ship a whole lot, but these two are really cute. I’d honestly say I like fanfics of this over any other ship for the fluff factor alone. Especially pertaining to a certain character the anime has only teased at, so I won’t say who.)
Just out of curiosity what's your opinion on the Spider-Man films overall - how do Homecoming and The Amazing Spider-Man compare to the ones from the early 2000s?
I hated Homecoming. It was pretty much how can we make this movie be as much of a millenial meme as possible...Mary Jane wasn't Mary Jane, the only allusion to that was at the end when she's like "oh yeah, call me MJ"..... like that's not how you write Mary Jane. They just teased her being in the movie and was super misleading because like 1. She looked nothing like Mary Jane and like her red hair is iconic, they could have dyed the actress' hair red or put a wig on or something to make her resemble Mary Jane. 2. Her name was Michelle???? ... Also, her character was really useless like she was just there to talk down to Peter at random times. She added nothing to the story.Flash Thompson was a debate nerd or something instead of the jock and of course he was also racebent. And what's worse about it is that they decided "oh yeah the Indian kid, there's no way he'd be anything other than a nerd. He can't play sports." Like way to stereotype it...We got two Shockers because reasons? Like they could have just brought in the second Shocker from the start rather than to have the whole sub plot/scene with the Shockers. All the cringey Aunt May jokes. Like we get it she's young and it's a horrible miscast. I get it, the actress is like 50, but if she doesn't look like Aunt May is supposed to look and she looks way young for her age, why cast her in a role that's supposed to go to an older looking woman? And joking about it in the movie like "haha we know she looks nothing like Aunt May" was so dumb. And the worst one, Peter. DOESN'T. MAKE. HIS. SPIDER. SUIT. WHAT????? That's like the whole thing about Peter that he's just as much of a genius as Tony is without having all the money for it. As my friend once said, Tony Stark without his money is Peter Parker. Peter always made his own stuff. Shifting that to Tony and making Tony Peter's mentor was so dumb. In some ways Homecoming was Iron Man 3.5.I'll give it this, though, Holland was a more convincing Spidey than Garfield. The Amazing Spider-Man wasn't as good as the Raimi SM, in my opinion. Andrew Garfield was too cool guy awkward rather than the nerdy awkward type that Peter is supposed to be. He wasn't really a good choice for Peter. Not as good as Maguire was. I think Tobey pulled it off perfectly how awkward and sciency and nerdy Peter was. He also pulled off Peter's attitude really well. Oh another thing about TASM, Harry Osborn was a disaster. I know Felicity Jones was supposed to be Felicia Hardy, but she only had a cameo and honestly, (as much as I loved her in Rogue One) she can't pull off Felicia. I don't remember much about TASM, to be honest. I do know that it took me a while to watch them and I only watched them because there was nothing else on tv.The Raimi films weren't perfect SM films, but they did pretty good with presenting the characters and it wasn't too dark or too light of a movie. It had like a good balance with that. Homecoming was all about making jokes every 5 seconds, like most of the new Marvel movies. It also didn't really do the characters any justice in the way they were portrayed. TASM kinda in between Raimi SM and Homecoming with how light and funny it was. The acting wasn't great, especially when it came to the main characters. There was a lot of mumbling and "uhhs" and "ummms" in the dialogue. TASM is a bit forgettable, tbh. It wasn't impressive and it got cancelled after a very short time, too.
Your brutally honest opinion on NaruHina, SasuNaru and Zutara
Let’s get to work!
I used to actually like naru’hina, if only partially annoyed by it. Then the ending happened and my opinion on it shifted 360 degrees like the stage in Hamilton. It literally came right the fuck outta nowhere in the manga ending, and then The Last, with its genjutsu, sealed the deal.
This is a terrible ship, and borderline abusive. It’s not the 50 shades, obvious abuse that sasu/saku portrays, but subtler. Guilt-tripping a person into a relationship and eventually marriage is abusive! I don’t think Hinata actually believes that her actions are abusive to Naruto in any way, but the SD anime made a joke comparing her following of Naruto as a stalker flick. Then there was the utterly selfish and meaningless confession that almost got her killed in the fight against Pein.
Hinata’s obsessed with Naruto. Obsessive relationships are unhealthy. And we still don’t know how or why Naruto supposedly loves Hinata. Or at least I don’t. Because she played with him? Bullshit, I’m 95% sure that’s a badly-done retcon. None of their canon interactions/supposed “development” were healthy. And then she got Neji killed through her own selfish “feelings” for Naruto!
Worst of all, naru/hina is a classic example of a “nice guy” ship. I fucking HATE people with “nice guy” syndrome, or anything similar. The whole idea behind it is that because Hinata was “there for him” as a kid, or tried to save his life once, etc., etc., she deserves him. Imagine if Hinata was a boy, and Naruto a girl. People would be rightly calling him a “nice guy”. The double standards are loud.
Actually, worst WORST of all, it’s obvious pandering to a certain, possibly-sexist element of the fanbase that wants a subservient waifu instead of an equal partner. It’s sword art online-level pandering and I fucking hate it.
sasu/naru I never liked. I’ve always hated how the fandom personified every single negative stereotype of the yaoi fangirl. They don’t care about characterization, just getting off on watching two attractive dudes getting it on. And I think kishimoto may have helped enable that shit to sell manga issues. So when they cried “HETERONORMATIVITY” or “HOMOPHOBIA” when it wasn’t canon, I got pissed off.
As for the ship itself, it’s as you put it. It’s violently unhealthy, and wouldn’t work out at all. Watching the early episodes, there clearly isn’t any sort of bond, just two kids who hated each other. Twelve year-olds who hate each other don’t exactly need a reason. Hell, no one needs a reason to hate a person’s guts that have nothing to do with foe yay (I’ll get to that soon).
Thing is, as immature as he was, Naruto had a damn good reason to hate sasuke. sasuke was the popular one, and Naruto saw someone he had to beat in order to get the respect and admiration he craved. So naturally with their opposite personalities, and sasuke being a total gary stu, they butted heads.
And then sasuke turned evil.
The whole thing went down the drain. Naruto’s determination to “save” sasuke became, as you put it, a Sisyphean effort that turned into a selfish crusade. The real reason Naruto wanted to “save” sasuke was because he didn’t want to be seen as a failure. That’s it. That’s what I think. That bullshit about being “reincarnated brothers” was tacked on, imo. Neither of them get anything good out of being a couple.
Imagine if sasuke was never created. God, I hate that bastard.
As for z/utara, it’s a typical “Good girl/bad boy” ship. That’s all it is. The shippers only like it for their fantasies and try to come up with supporting evidence later on. It’s complete and total bullshit.
