Inktober 52 2023 - Week 23 - ‘Mask’
I was going to finally upload my ideas for what the Quarians from mass effect looked like for this prompt as I dug out the loft my old art from years ago including some of my ideas and designs for them. But I’m buried in paper right now, and I need more time to dig out all my old art, scan it and do a long explanation as to why I designed them the way I did. Basically It needs more attention, and I’m a bit busy at the moment, so instead have a little creature dump involving the theme of masks.
Bottom left is a fakemon. Poison type involving gas masks. Maybe an armadillo-like Pokémon who changed to poison after eating pollutants when its environment was destroyed by industrial waste. Now it eats the toxins and emits both clean air, or poisonous air as a defence.
Worm masks because of course. Grinning worms are meant to be part technological, so these masks prevents your worm from being hacked or doxxed in their part-computer brains. Customizable to match your personal worm!
Inktober 2022 - Day 19 - Ponytail
OK I KNOW IT'S NOT A HORSE, HEAR ME OUT.
I love Girafarig, and I was devastated that it had an evolution that was scrapped. I'm so pleased that we now have Farigiraf, and it's such a cute design (with its tail taking over the head and becoming a 'hoodie'). But I do still love that old design.
Now I used to mod my little pony toys years ago (told you it was related 8B) and I got a couple knocking about somewhere. I'm thinking of modding one more and making that beta evolution. I may have a spare head somewhere for it too (but I think it's a small one).
So looking forward to having this funky raffi in my team again.
Inktober 2022 - Day 22 - Heist GRINNING WORM BONUS
For all their silly forms and seemingly pointless phrases - Grinning worms are meant to be this world form of organic computer. You can bet eventually people will use them for hacking. Some of the pirate users will insist that their worms grins are more genuine when they're hacking into company servers.
Inktober 2022 - Day 7 - Trip GRINNING WORM BONUS
Look, you know I had to one day do one typical 'shroom' picture.
My scanner ate up the brightness, so I enhanced it in clip studio paint. I rather like the static touch it's added.
Inktober 2022 - Day 12 - Forget
Earlier this year, I finally typed out what worms are in my... head universe?.. :
Inktober 52 2022 - Week 7 - 'Tiger' So this week's prompt gave me an excuse to illustrate something I used to explain what 'worms' are in m
Well, GRINNING worms are that concept of a self replicating organism, but in a stunted and commercialized way. When I created them, I didn't have much to compare them to (mobile phones only just getting internet, and it was terrible). But now I can say this;
Grinning worms are the Alexa/Cortana/personal assistant and pocket computer of the worm world. An organic computer friend that can do everything and be your quirky fashion piece too. They can't change their bodies on their own, but you can get them customized. They have a generalized shape, but do have some verity.
While normal worms may actually try to replicate what the Thylacine was FOR in nature; these guys are what you could order. Your own personal worm to remind you of a Thylacine.
What the worms think about it is hard to say. The real worms remain as hidden and mysterious as the animal they are mimicking. Grinning worms just smile and continue to send out data.
(and when the world is a bit over run with discarded smiling organic computers with a touch of personality in them; it really starts to go a bit wrong strange).
They are also my excuse to do silly drawings with a touch of humour and/or sarcasm and/or menace.
Inktober 52 2022 - Week 37 - 'Teeth'
Grin
and
Bare
it.
Ohhh, Inktober 2022 is up next! I once again plan to do a Bonus picture for each one I draw. I'm thinking of my grinning worms (above) again, as I really enjoy doing them. Much catharsis for me in drawing them and makes me feel like I'm feeling my roots in them.
Uploading early as I'm sadly helping to clear out my Nan's house for the next few days and then (happily!) seeing Nightvale in Brighton this Thursday.
Inktober 2022 - Day 9 - Nest GRINNING WORM BONUS
Time to leave the nest!
