Grishla
why not the hannla
did selena send you
who cooks normally?:
I feel like I’m cheating (since they portrayed her cooking more than once) but Carla. I mean Grisha did spend most of his time out and about treating people so I feel like even if he did like cooking or would cook he just wasn’t around enough to actually get around to it often.
how often do they fight?:
I don’t think they argued much at all. Maybe the occasional ‘you’re overworking yourself’ or ‘honey we’re adopting a nine year old girl because her parents were murdered and our son murdered their murderers in turn’ but other than that I feel like they got along pretty peacefully
what do they do when they’re away from each other?:
Grisha probably misses her much more than she misses him?? Or I think he just lets himself dwell on it more often than not, I dunno but I think Carla is really grounded and kept herself busy and levelheaded and just tried to shake off those feelings where Grisha just let them eat at him.
nicknames for each other?:
I have no idea—They don’t seem like the couple prone to given nicknames? I feel like Carla might affectionately insult him, though. Doctor Jaeger, anyone?
who is more likely to pay for dinner?:
Canonverse Grisha. Modern AU Carla would prob pay for it all
who steals the covers at night?:
Grisha. Carla gets hot easily and kicks them away and probably rolls around a lot and Grisha curls up into a ball and wraps his arms and legs around her and she complains but she secretly finds it adorable
what would they get each other for gifts?:
As much as I think Carla isn’t one for corny/romantic gestures I think she’d be a really great gift giver? She’d buy him a badly needed coat that’d actually keep him warm or an expensive journal perfect for his constant scribbling. Grisha would be too extragavant—get her jewelry when she doesn’t really like wearing it but every now and then he’ll just clear out a night and take her out to town because she loves being outside and he’ll buy her every sweet she wants and they’re suddenly a young couple all over again
who remembers things?:
Carla. Grisha may be one hell of a doctor but Carla remembers where everything is placed and the exact words you said ten thousand fucking years ago don’t you dare try to lie to her
who cusses more?:
Carla
what would they do if the other one was hurt?:
Carla would try to remain calm and send the kids to get another doctor?? Grisha would try to treat Carla himself but if it was really severe I feel like his hands would shake way too much because, I mean, it’s Carla
who kissed who first?:
Carla totally kissed Grisha, the man looks like he’d pass out trying
who made the first move?:
Carla.
who started the relationship?:
Again, Carla. He probably fell in love with her pretty quickly but could never work up the nerve so Carla gets so fed up she barges into his home/office and tells him to pick her up later that afternoon and if he’s late not to ever expect to see her again and so Grisha was a whole hour early
broken cradle, grishla, drabble
broken cradle, a grishla drabble. for selena, i've been plotting how to approach this for a while (and it's terrible but my mood is terrible sorry).
He doesn't see the signs because he looks through rose-colored medical glasses.
Carla drags her fingers through lustre-lost curls of sweaty, night-dark hair in an attempt to make something presentable of her appearance. So much weighs on her, but nothing weighs more than the emptiness of her womb and the heaviness of her arms and the green cusp of her son's eyes. Nothing threatens to drown her other than the possibility of a limitless world outside of the cage they call humanity's savior.
She loves Eren, but Grisha is blind, and she is tired.
But she smiles for him, she smiles when Eren cries and when he finally goes to sleep, and she smiles when Grisha comes home unexpectedly and slides into bed beside her.
And even though her heart is so heavy with the woes of the world, with the hope to give her son something better out of this meager experience of living, she is happy. And it is good, great that Grisha doesn't see this malevolent sadness that chokes down her throat like tar, because it is not an illness. (But maybe he should know, after all, he is her husband; Carla knows better, she knows she has always been strong and smooth as steel and those pliant smiles were for show.)
The world is a lot easier to forget when she falls asleep on Grisha's shoulder under the twilight, and for dream-seconds she can feel herself getting carried away; but then Eren cries, and then she remembers, and then she mourns.
Maybe, one day, she will talk to Grisha about it when Eren is older (when he has a fighting chance in the world). Because for now, everything is a blur of nighttime cuddles and cranky infancy.
