We need to make the hope louder.
We need to make the hope louder.
We need to make the hope louder.
The future will not be a heavenly hacienda, but here on this bruised earth, in the face of an inevitable entropic ending, bodies will carry on (for the time being at least) the incomplete (uncompleteable) work of keeping entropy at bay. Such activity is neither to be condemned nor condoned: not here, not in the work. It is repetitive work—some of it delegated to tools, some of it carried out by human agents—and it is uneven, sometime monstrously catastrophic, in its effects. But it is all we have got.
Ben Highmore, "Memories of Catastrophes Yet to Come: New Brutalism and Thing-Memory" in Performing Memory in Art and Popular Culture (edited by Liedeke Plate, and Anneke Smelik)
I have never been knocked flat on my back by the close of an academic text like this one. Wow. Holy shit.

*through gritted teeth* know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better know it's for the better
Putting this here, because it comforts me and idk it might mean something to someone
Came up with an analogy for life + trauma based on a phrase I saw today, "gritted teeth optimism"
"Life is all like a dusty shelf, if you just let the dust pile up it'll never get clean
But if you get up there and clean it it's back to being good"
And our friend added something to it too
"you cannot stop the dust from coming back forever, sometimes you will not be able to clean and it will come back, but thats okay because eventually you will find the time to clean again"
I don't know, we're being a bit sappy about stuff (also having one of those days™)
But, I think this makes me feel better about everything going on, it makes me wanna fight
I don't know
people have to do things? everyday? when they’ve already wasted all their energy in public at school? or work? that’s absurd! you should be able to hermit as long as you wish! to recharge! but alas, the tasks stack high and your motivation dips lower! and it could always be like this! you’ve lived like this forever! how could it change? why would it change?
