immediately recognizable as a herpylline gnaphosid but otherwise a little weird looking, Poecilochroa albomaculata is a charming little critter endemic to southwestern europe and possibly northern africa. the illusion of the smiley face on the abdomen is enhanced by the family's trademark large spinnerets, giving it a stupid little tuft of hair, although personally my favorite feature is that high-contrast prosoma found in a lot of its relatives
