#ground spiders

immediately recognizable as a herpylline gnaphosid but otherwise a little weird looking, Poecilochroa albomaculata is a charming little critter endemic to southwestern europe and possibly northern africa. the illusion of the smiley face on the abdomen is enhanced by the family's trademark large spinnerets, giving it a stupid little tuft of hair, although personally my favorite feature is that high-contrast prosoma found in a lot of its relatives

UNKNOWN. He was too tiny and fast to get a clearer shot, and the cephalothorax is too dark to see the eyes. From his shape, size and tendency to flatten himself into stucco divots, he seems like Oecobiidae (disc web spider), but I haven’t been able to find any solid black Oecobiids yet.

@blameposting says Gnaphosidae (ground spider) and yeah that makes more sense!
