Took 3 years but in 4 weeks I’m undergoing grs 😭

I’m the morning. I’ll be checking into the hospital for surgery. Sacred. Excited. Anxious. Nervous. Restless. Joyful. I’m a million emotions mixed into one.

Thank you to anyone who was praying for a successful surgery. Everything went according to plan. So far there’s no complications and the pain is very mild.

I just met Dr. Brassard, (January 19 2021) and he may not realize how much he touches people's lives and makes them better and that he is an amazing and gifted surgeon and that he has touched my life and made it better for me. I started crying and crying again as I am typing this. It is so true for him it maybe just another surgery but for someone who is transgender it gives us the chance to be who we really are! Dr. Brassard and his whole team are amazing and are giving Transgender individuals the ability to live as who they really are. Thank You to all the staff at GRS Montreal for this amazing opportunity. I did get the opportunity to tell Dr. Brassard this and how thankful I am. Electrolysis Hurts. It freaking sucks...

It takes a long time (my small treatment area takes about 45 minutes per session), and is consistently painful.  My technician uses a numbing cream before treatment, which definitely helps, but does not completely prevent the pain.

The treatment feels like tiny hot mosquito bites, over and over again. Sometimes if she doesn’t get the hair in the first zap, she will zap again in the same spot. Occasionally there will be a “crack” or “pop” sound as a hair gets zapped. Those ones hurt.

And as I sit there and try to grit my teeth through the pain, and keep my leg from twitching from reflex, all I can think about is how cis guys don’t have to do this to have their bodies line up with who they are. They don’t have to earn their penises through pain and time and process. And most will never even realize that.

I want this, I’ve waited my entire life for this, I have worked hard for this. But it hurts, and it sucks, and I don’t enjoy it.
