Hung Jury is a great book and I honestly recommend it.

It highlights a very important fact: we're lying to ourselves about lower surgery. There is a huge culture of belief that phallo is incredibly dangerous, that it often doesn't work, doesn't look right, doesn't function right and people are often unhappy with it. Except that's not true, at all. It's the opposite. Most people are very satisfied with their results, both in terms of aesthetics and function.

We need to undo this mindset. It's nothing except unhelpful, especially to those with intense bottom dysphoria. It's factually untrue to boot. That book is not modern, but it's also not wrong. You still see it everywhere online, in every comment section. Young trans masc people who actually only know fearmongering facts or are working on suppositions and opinions, making others afraid of phallo and spreading misinformation.

Remember that pictures online might be post-surgery, look for some that are years down the line! Ask people who have had the surgery! Don't just let yourself be misled and then spread that fear around.

We already have transphobes fearmongering about phallo and convincing us we're doing our 'precious vaginas' wrong. We don't need to do that to ourselves.

My life is a whole mess right now but I wanted to share somewhere with someone, anyone that I have consultations set up for bottom surgery (phalloplasty) and I’m starting the prerequisite requirements in the next few weeks. So yay me!

getting so sick of waiting, can’t deal with this anymore, does anyone have any experience pursuing lower surgery in other countries ?

The wait time for surgery is terrible, especially as the bottom surgery list is so much longer than top surgery.

The positive is that Chelsea and Westminster are really getting through the Meta list, so this is bringing the waiting list down for those wanting meta. They are also apparently training to do phallo, but it is unsure when they will be ready to do those.

There is also another hospital team training for bottom surgery, so this will also have a positive impact on the waiting lists.

Mr C’s team is also training a new surgeon. But it is also unsure when he will be operating and on who or whether he has a contract with the NHS yet.

Bottom surgery abroad is a difficult one in terms of finding information. You’d need to Google phalloplasty surgeons in Europe and study the results to see if you were happy with these, as they can be different to what the UK results are like. Just be aware that phalloplasty doesn’t always mean FTM phalloplasty, so if you are contacting surgeons you’d need to make sure they have experience operating on transmen.

You would also likely have to fund these surgeries yourself as no-one I know of has been successful in getting the NHS to fund bottom surgeries abroad.

I know of someone who paid for their bottom surgery abroad and are very happy with their results, he had this done by Miro Djordjevic. This is the same surgeon who is now operating in a Chelsea and Westminster.

The important thing is doing your own research. Make contact with surgeons. Look at surgeons results. Don’t just chose whoever is cheapest. Results must be your number one reason for picking a surgeon.

It may also be worth contacting the GDNRSS to see where you are on the NHS waiting list as obviously going private for bottom surgery is a very very expensive option wherever you go.

I have really been down on myself for so long for not keeping this blog up to date and not posting more recovery details as they were happening. Sometimes being in the middle of it is more overwhelming that you aren’t really thinking much about documenting it lol

That being said I am at a much better place in my life right now and am extremely motivated in a lot of areas. I am working full time, going to the gym 5 days a week, and training to become a fitness/nutrition coach. I really feel like I am in a spot to get this blog a lot more active and keep up with it on daily basis. I would really love to get more information out there and routinely be answering questions many of you might have.

I just recently passed my 4 years post op phalloplasty and am less than a week away from my 6 years post op for top surgery. I am also 10 months post op the 3 piece inflatable erectile implant and nearly 8 years on testosterone.
