Ami tried not to laugh at his attempt at speaking Japanese. Her mother had gotten tickets to some fashion event thanks to one of her patients who wanted to repay her for something, so she had taken Ami. Ami hadn’t really wanted to go, but Usagi insisted that if she didn’t, it was some sort of crime. (Not that Ami really cared - but if she didn’t, she would never hear the end of it, either.) So Ami had gone and was pleasantly surprised to meet the French fashion designer and his son. According to Ami’s mother her father sometimes did commissions for them, which was interesting to hear.
When Adrien tried to speak though….his Japanese needed work.
“That’s fine, but I’d definitely say you need more work.” Ami said to him honestly as she offered him a warm smile “I’m Ami Mizuno, it’s nice to meet you Adrien.”
Ami already knew she as never going to hear the end of it from Usagi when she found out that Ami had met a model, she wondered if it was even worth telling her but that could be decided Monday at school.
“I have to say some of my friends are really big fans of yours.”
“Oh, really?” it seemed to bemuse him, which she could interpret how she liked; it never failed to surprise Adrien to hear that there was anyone out in the world who counted themselves among his ‘fans’, especially when those people came from hundreds and hundreds of kilometres outside of his little hometown of Paris. “You’ll have to thank them for me! It’s mostly the photographer, really. I don’t do much.” Besides sitting and smiling. And occasionally arguing about backdrops, which wasn’t even his job.
The Mizuno family was one Adrien recognised by name, albeit vaguely; apparently his father had connections with them here in Japan. It meant any interaction he had with her would be closely scrutinised; he could FEEL his father’s eyes boring into his back, even now.
Fortunately for his mental health and sanity, Adrien genuinely did not care. He just wanted to make a friend, what could seriously go wrong? She probably didn’t even know he WAS an Agreste. It wasn’t hard to pick him as a model, when he was decked out in brandname clothing.
“Are you enjoying the party? I .... think it’s meant to be a party.” It was very formal for a prty, but Adrien didn’t know what sort of celebrations his father liked to hold. They were usually held without him. “I usually duck out before the hijinks really get going.” He got bored; evidently, Adrien was suggesting they hit the streets and explore a bit, now, with a vague gesture over his shoulder to back himself up. He had no interest in being here. “Want to join me?”
