“Xenoconformity”

The term “unconformity” refers to a part of a sequence of sedimentary rocks where there is no sediment deposited. There are several types of unconformities – a nonconformity refers to a contact where sediments drape on top of igneous or metamorphic rocks, an angular unconformity refers to a boundary where rocks were tilted and partially eroded before new sediments were deposited, and a disconformity refers to a time within layers of sediment where deposition stops, but no changes can be easily recognized (https://tmblr.co/Zyv2Js1JtNUXH).

A recently published paper has proposed a new term for spots like this. This point is a GSSP, a “Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point” where a single spot has been marked as containing a boundary on the geologic column. This point is at the start of the cap carbonate for the last proposed Snowball Earth glaciation, 640 million years ago. This GSSP point marks the start of the Ediacaran, a distinct period on the geologic timescale. The new paper proposes that a site like this should be called a “Xenoconformity”

Unconformities are, by definition, local changes. Rocks must be faulted or eroded or facies must change in a single area for it to be an unconformity. However, when big things happen – when global glaciations collapse, or there is an asteroid impact, sedimentation patterns change worldwide. When the asteroid struck the area that is now the Yucatan Peninsula at the end of the Cretaceous, sediment patterns changed literally on the opposite side of the world; the boundary has been recognized in places including Europe and North Africa.

That’s the type of boundary that scientist Alan Carroll at the University of Wisconsin proposes should be called a “Xenoconformity”. This term would distinguish local unconformities, as can be caused by small changes within a basin, from global events.

GSSP Finale

This may not come as a shock to most of our followers, but the members here at GSSP would like to officially announce the permanent hiatus of this blog.

It has been a hell of a ride. We have made friendships that will last a lifetime, we’ve all had more than our fair share of drama. We’ve gone through being deleted and completely starting over- It’s just been a lot. A lot of the cast members and mods, including the original creator of the blog, have been struggling to find time to continue this. So it was ultimately decided that we shut it down.

We will not be deactivating. This blog will remain up for the sake of preserving all the hard work and memories that have gone into this. We would like to thank each and every one of our followers who have been with us throughout this crazy, beautiful adventure. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us and what we love to do. This was a learning experience I’m sure none of us will forget.

Meet our Karen “Kalen” McCormick! Mun is Clyde!

Character Background: Kalen hasn’t really changed much, still remaining very shy and secluded from his classmates. The only people he interacts with are his older sister Kendra and on occasion Kendra’s friends. He will only talk to his classmates if it is absolutely needed and tends to stay away from his other family members. Despite not liking most of his family Kalen spends a lot of time at home and very rarely leaves. When Kendra isn’t home he never leaves his room and spends a lot of time worrying about her. He can never manage to spend more than a few days away from his sister because he is so dependent on her. Kalen gets picked on at school pretty regularly because of how poor his family is. He has developed an aversion to alcohol and smoking because he doesn’t want to end up like his parents. He spends a lot of time trying to convince Kendra to quit.

Additional Information: Kalen is part of the art club at school and manages to slightly interact with the people there. Not many people know of Kalens artistic abilities as he doesn’t like to show off much, or draw attention to himself.

I always heard tales of people meeting their closest friends on Tumblr and I just thought that was absolutely absurd bc I mean ??? BUT alas, all it took was me being added onto one simple ask blog, and I met not just my closest friends, but my family. Soooo here they are in no particular order~

Lauren- Ren ahh omg, okay so this is probably gonna be kinda long because I do not tell you how much I love and appreciate you enough. We’ve been friends for almost 5 months now (wowie) and you’ve helped me through so much. From the first time we talked, I have felt like I’ve known you my whole life. We’ve made so many crazy plans and just ahh, you’re incredible, and beautiful, and the meme-est of memes, but most of all, you’re my best friend and I don’t know where I’d be without you

Dylan​- Aight so we’ve discussed my stance on this, and as I’ve been sappy enough with you in pm tonight, there is no need to declare my gross heterosexual feelings for you again rn. I will however say that you’re absolutely amazing, and I’m so lucky to have you in my life, no matter what. God bless Ameridyl

Andie & Kelcie- You guys are honestly the parents I always wished I had. You both have given me so much support. Between my voicing of my not-so-popular opinions and views on things going on, to just checking in on me to make sure I’m doing okay. I’ve always absolutely adored the two of you, and I’m so glad that you auditioned for GSSP. It’s been an absolute pleasure cosplaying with you guys.

Genderswap South Park 2.0

Hello, everyone! As some may already know, the original askgenderswapsouthpark was recently hacked and deleted. Fortunately, we were able to save the url on a mod’s old tumblr account while we attempted to get the old blog back with the help of another South Park ask blog who experienced the same heartbreak as those of us at GSSP have today.

We are almost certain this was an isolated attack, but please, if you have a South Park ask blog, keep a close eye on it. No one should ever have to experience all their time and hard work being flushed down the toilet the way askgenderswapsouthpark and come-on-down-to-south-park did.

Because we were not able to get GSSP back, we’ve created GSSP 2.0. We certainly hope that our newfound friends can also recover from the devastation this entire ordeal has caused.

GSSP 2.0 is currently under construction. Please excuse the mess, and thank you for your concern.
