actually reading your posts about isolation makes me see the whole 'princess in a tower' fairytale setup in a new light
Yeah that set up is extremely damaging. I have some pretty…negativethoughts on that ‘princess in tower’ set up that go beyond the blog and what Iknow about solitary confinement.
Where I grew segregation by sex is legally enforced. It isillegal for women to meet unrelated men. It is illegal for women to walk thestreets without written permission from their fathers or husbands. They can bedenied schooling and hospital treatment on the basis of what male relativespermit.
I really despise the romanticisation of that kind of restrictive,damaging environment in fiction. Especially as it’s usually accompanied bycomplete dismissal of the victim’s pain. Usually because they’re female. Andthis really spills into reality.
Purdah can go to hell.
