Beer Review: Brouwerij De Ranke - Guldenberg
Served: 330ml bottle poured into
When I bought this beer, I didn't think I'd seen it before. However, after buying it and reading that it was from De Ranke, I keep seeing it everywhere! Isn't that just the way it goes?
Look: Pale gold beer with a slight haze and a foamy Belgian head. Not much lacing in this glass.
Aroma: Lots of bananas. It smells sort of rustic, a bit naive. There is spice and a hint of homebrew. The alcohol is quite pervasive.
Taste: This beer is another example of that sweet and sour Belgian thing where it's got bitterness, but also a whole lot of sweetness. It tastes particularly boozy and the finish is flat and malty.
Mouthfeel: Fizzy beer although the finish is a little sticky.
Overall: Yeah, not great. I don't like this taste on this really. Hint of bitterness, hint of sourness, loads of sugar. Not for me, won't be looking for it again. 2/5
