I know I'm seven years too late for many people, but I need Yuri!!! On Ice fanfic writers to know that the Grand Prix series is both at the start of competition season and not the only international figure skating competition ever. This isn't a "diversify the competitions you write about" post, because that's stupid. The Grand Prix series is an integral part of the story. But the reason why it's the focus is because a) like I said before, it's at the start of the season and b) it has that epic tournament-format beloved by many anime. The next big international competition after the GP is Four Continents/Europeans, where the Europeans have one competition and everyone else goes to the other. And after that, to end the season, is the World Championship, or just Worlds. Maybe this is petty but I scream into my pillow when I see people fuck it up.
