grrrr....
I went to the gym last week and encountered some very annoying people. The first were two men who were “working out” (AKA taking up space) on a bench to the left of mine. I was doing a shoulder/arm workout and trying to stay focused. The two guys plopped their stuff down and started chatting with each other. I could hear their conversation as plain as day. Not only was it distracting, it was probably one of the most boring conversations I’ve ever heard! They were discussing their avatars in some video game. Every-other word out of their mouths was “like”, and it was completely breaking my concentration! Finally they picked up some weights and did a few shoulder flys. I was relieved... But not for long because after only 1 set, they were back to the nerd talk. Don’t get me wrong, that’s fine they like video games, and have a hobby. But holding a 30 minute conversation and doing 2 sets of shoulders is NOT going to get you anywhere. I kept saying “why are you here?” and “are you kidding me?” under my breath, but they didn’t hear me. I recall one of them stating how amazing they want to make their video game character. Then please go home and make them amazing because you aren’t trying very hard to make yourself amazing here! Go back to your fantasy world of mindless chatter and get out of the gym where people are actually trying to do some work! When they finally left, I had to look around in disbelief. I seriously thought I was being pranked on a TV show or something. That’s how ridiculous these guys were!
Encounter number two was a couple. They took up the bench to the right of me after the nerdzillas left. So there was a guy and a girl alternating sets. The guy was fine, not bothering anyone, and seemed to be into his routine. The girl on the other hand, was flat out horrible. She was on her headphones on the phone with someone, talking insanely loud. When it was her turn to lift, she would remain on the phone, lift her 5lb dumbbells for a few seconds, and continue her conversation. At one point she said to the person on the phone “Oh no, I’m just lifting!” Just lifting??? As if you don’t need to get off the phone to lift weights? If you can physically speak and don’t feel like you’re putting out any effort, then surprise-surprise: YOU’RE NOT WORKING HARD ENOUGH. (Or working at all, in this case!)
Some people will never cease to amaze me… But why not post blogs about their annoyingness? At least it helps me get it off my chest. Side note: if you or a loved one is like any of these people, they must seek help asap!
