Questions to ask when taking a history of a patient with a (suspected) seizure, in addition to their usual histories and medications:
Have you ever had a seizure before?
Did you ever have a seizure with a fever when you were a baby or toddler?
Does anyone in your family have seizures?
Has anyone in your family had a seizure with a fever when they were young?
Have you ever been an anti-seizure medication?
Does anyone in your family take anti-seizure medication?
Were you born premature?
Did you meet all your developmental milestones on time as a baby?
How did you do in school?
Were you in special classes or have an IEP?
Does anyone in your family have special needs/ intellectual disability/ mental retardation?
Have you ever hit your head?
Did you have a concussion?
