This is a fantastic explainer on what the Trump policies are doing for farmers. While deporting casual labourers who have choice and can leave when they don't like the conditions on the farms, the push for H-2A visa 'legal farm workers' ties their employment to the specific farm, meaning they CAN"T leave and are more likely to face unfit housing conditions, excessive working hours, basically slavery conditions that the farmers happily exploit. Trump is also removing the regulation to tie workers' pay to the standards of the region resulting in much lower wages. All of these changes means that abuse and slavery like conditions are a-ok with this regime.
