Interval Training
Boy intervals are tough. Got off the track this morning, already in pain from the lactic acid building up. As much as intervals hurt and feel tough, they are integral for any training program for any distance. If you want to get faster, you have to run fast. It's as simple as that (although the training is not).
So, if you find yourself at a plateau or are bored with your current running regimen, add in some sprints (200s, 400s). You will undoubtedly see some improvement in the coming weeks. Start off slowly, maybe one day a week, then increase as your body is able to handle the extra impact/workload. Good luck!
Week 4: Day 5 - "H.I.I.T" it hard!
So today was my designated cardio- only day. Throughout the week I do cardio also, coupled with my workouts, if you follow me you know I ride my Trek 1.2 to and from the gym daily; weather permitting. Aside from cycling, I am a big fan of High Intensity Intermittent Training, I think it is a great way to engage your muscles and have them cycling being hot and cold activation periods. There is a lot of research to be done by the participator about H.I.I.T and I think anyone interested in a mix up from long distance running should look into this form of cardio work.
This morning I went to the high school track with my buddy Reezy to do our traditional sprinting routine, it is more of his than it is mine. I just joined him and really enjoyed the ass-kicking the workout gave me and I wanted more. I guess when it comes to working out and tattoos I am a masochistic, lol. I mean there are shirts (I own one from my high school wrestling team) that say, "pain is weakness leaving the body!". I think there is some validity to that, whatever, sue me. The track at the school is no different from any typical track, it has eight 400meter lanes. The workout circuit we do is as followed:
Stretch, Very important!
400m warm-up lap
Sprint 100m x 16
Jog 100m x 16
Final 100m sprint
Vomit.
Repeat
So after the first 400m warm-up lap, as we approach the starting line for the 100m on the straight-away we pick up the pace and full out sprint from the starting line to the finish and then jog back and tap the starting line again and sprint it on out again, so on and so forth till we are done. We each start on opposite ends of the numbers on the track, so for example today I started on one, while Reezy started on eight and we cross in the middle, at four and five. It is a hell of a workout especially when you're under the blazing sun, haha. I recommend if you have a buddy to workout with or a kick-ass running mix to definitely give this a try you will not be disappointed. Happy Friday fitblrs!

hit plateau weight?
I've been sitting on 64.8kgs for exactly 3 weeks! I really really want to lose more! So now I am upping the intensity by doing H.I.I.T workouts (High Intensity Interval Training). I'm still eating clean as I have always done.
I'm also following this 12 day challenge that I strongly suggest to anyone who is having similar problems to me..
