Hmm, maybe some clay supplies that are astronomy themed? Like star shaped dotting tools for either paint or indenting onto the clay, or glaze the colors of a night sky, or planet shaped molds, that sort of thing? You could also give him something personal, maybe there's a specific thing he only tells you about or only you know about.
