This takes me back to my childhood. I still love this treat. This is a famous and well known Hadrami food. It is a bread like fried dough. I am pretty sure that this recipe is little bit change from one area to another. The one I always eat is a bit sweet and have nigella seeds( black seeds) in it. Other people might add cardamoms. Ingredients 3 cups flour 1/2 cup sugar ¾ tsp salt or to taste 6 tablespoons of powdered milk 1/4 cup oil Around 1 cup water add more if you need 1 tablespoon yeast 1 tsp baking powder 1 tablespoon black seeds Oil for frying 1. Mix the yeast into the water or milk so it dissolves. 2. Mix the yeast/water mixture into the rest of the ingredients to form a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours. 3. Break the dough into 4 pieces and form into smooth balls. Roll them out with a rolling pin to about 1/8 thick, or a little bit thicker. Cut them into the desired shapes. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. 4. Heat the oil in a frying pan on medium-medium high heat. Place the dough pieces into the oil and it should rise to the top and puff up. When it is golden brown on one side then turn and cook on the other side. I like to dust it with a bit of powder sugar and cinnamon 🤩 #bahmri #bakhmri #khameer #hadramifood #hadrami #yemenicuisine #friedgoodness #friedbread #nadaleinskitchen https://www.instagram.com/p/CaKHOYVo5t9/?utm_medium=tumblr
