so we all know how the haikyuu fandom heard someone say "akaashi is canonically weird" because he was the first 'oya' and ran with it? like, suddenly every akaashi fic was him being weird to an extensive degree and such. he would say cheesy pickup lines, message you about frogs and whatnot.

i want this with osamu. hear me out. not the weird part, but i want people to understand he's canonically the more freaky twin. many write fics of samu being composed and calmer, and tsumu having a higher sex drive and more flirty in general—well boy do i have news for yall

now dont get me wrong tho. atsumu having a higher sex drive is fine. osamu being the more collected twin is also fine. but when they both shared a crush on saeko, OSAMU was the one to go up and ask her out. hes more bolder (and while that doesnt necessarily equate to freakiness, i like to think it does). in other words— osamu has bolder advances, he is quicker to try for a girl, and he is not afraid to voice his romantic/sexual interest in girls.

as an avid tsukiyama fan,, nobody talks about how tsukishima's favourite food is STRAWBERRY shortcake... And Yamaguchi's fav food is SOGGY FRENCH FRIES.

Tsuki looks like a french fry..

AND YAMAGUCHI LOOKS LIKE A STRAWBERRY.

look at his hair, it's green in color and it's shaped like a cap for a strawberry AND HIS AHOGE. And he has freckles, even his face is shaped like a damn strawberry. And they have matching jersey numberss..

And THEY HAVE BOND!!!!!

Yes, it was shown that Tsuki is constantly annoyed by Yamaguchi, with the line "Shut up, Yamaguchi"...but bro tbh I don't think Tsuki is a PDA type of guy...taps my chin

ANDDDD idk what episode but there's a scene where Tsuki blocked a spike from Tendou and the one that cheered the loudest DESPITE NOT BEING IN THE FRAME IS YAMAGUCHI.

I think we all can agree that he likes being screamed at by Yamaguchi.. AND HE COVERS IT UP BY SAYING YAMA IS REALLY COOL.

Re watching haikyuu for the sixteenth time and I can't stress enough how good the ships are and how original the characters are as well.

Like-

Let's take Karasuno alone.

Daichi's design couldn't be any more plain and yet people see his thighs and go "Daddy~" as if man wasn't a copy paste of any background character in the history of anime.

But here's the thing. Even if he is, he also isn't?????? We got the strong protective dad figure but they also added him the good cop bad cop personality (whether he scolds Asahi or anyone else).

We got Suga, who again couldn't have a less plain design and yet he is???? So much???? He's not only the "kind and soft character", he is the mom figure, the wind of fresh air, the one that competed against Kageyama for his place as setter, the one who made OIKAWA interested, he's a devious little shit in most fanfictions and I fucking love how "not so obvious" he is as a character.

Then we got Asahi. The kind giant is a clichè that I didn't think would work here, but when you give a man THAT HAIR, A MAN BUN AND A LIL BIT OF BEARD and STILL make him the Ace and HAVING SUCH A COMPLEX RELATIONSHIP WITH NOYA - holy shit, don't get me started on Noya - well, the game changes.

I don't even have to point out Noya. His existence carries the whole show. Congrats to haikyuu for being the only anime with Nishinoya You.

But what really solds the whole thing together is how the characters interact with each other. I mean, we all love the "dad and mom" of the friend group, but who the fuck expected the kind giant and the loud short storm to have such a complex relationship??? Who expected everyone to be so fond of Suga, who expected Daichi to be mean only to ASAHI out of ALL people?????

Who expected Tanaka to be more than the fun one that brings chaos whenever he opens mouth? Who expected him to be such a HUGE presence and leaving a great mark on the first years, especially Hinata to the point he inherited his number???

I am so. Fucking. Sold. To this anime, and I will never stop ranting about the most random detail about it. Period.

one of the reasons why i like sakuatsu so much is that they both have to unlearn how to be assholes together.

they never had to bother with this before because if they are a dick it’s usually to someone a) whose opinions they don’t care about or b) who knows them well enough and for long enough to know when they really mean it and when they don’t.

but this is someone they don’t want to lose. and this is someone they know they will lose if they revert to their default mode of dealing with things (the default mode being: acting like an asshole)

it’s even more interesting because sakusa’s particular brand of asshole-ness is exactly the kind that gets under atsumu’s skin the most and vice versa. it’s mutually assured destruction, and yet.

there’s something really beautiful about learning each other’s boundaries and unlearning your unhealthy coping mechanisms in the process without losing your identity. especially when they’re the only ones who could ever understand exactly what the other is going through.

sakusa and atsumu hold a mirror to each other and ask, how much of your pride are you willing to let go of for the person you see on the other side?
