Should’ve
Hide and Haise go out to do some training when Haise noticing something off about Hide. Based lightly off of @taloyo‘s magic au
Haise felt a now familiar warmth spread throughout him and with it felt his injuries knit together, standing up he spared a glance towards the white mage who healed him and nodded his thanks.
He let energy gather around him and unleashed a powerful fireball, with a final cry the monster died and the pair let out a sigh of relief. “Thanks for healing me, again.”
Hide chuckled, “well it is literally my job to do it so, no prob.” Haise wiped sweat from his forehead and stared at the felled monster, “I think two more and we head back. Sound good?”
Hide nodded and stood beside the black mage, “sounds great, I already feel stronger just after what we’ve done. How are you feeling though? That wasn’t exactly a minor wound.”
Haise scratched his cheek, “I’m fine, thanks to you. I should have moved out of the way faster, it’s my fault I got hit.” Hide sighed before smiling, “well I guess that’s why we’re out here training.”
Haise nodded and stayed silent about the other reason they were out here, and noticing how pale the blond looked and wondered once again if he was really alright to be out here with him.
“Are you alright? All last week you were working all day trying to help out everyone that was sick.” Hide looked at him before smiling widely, "it’s sweet that you’re worried but I’m ok. Besides they needed me yesterday, we still don’t know what caused the fever and I’ll be honest it still bothers me.”
A sickness had spread throughout Antiku and had killed quite a number of its inhabitants, Hide had volunteered to help those he could and Haise was a little worried about the emotional toll those deaths must have taken on the blonde.
“Why don’t we eat a little bit before we continue?” Hide nodded and pulled out the sandwich’s they had bought earlier, taking a bite Haise smiled. “Yoriko spoils us with this stuff.”
Hide nodded and smiled but otherwise remained silent, he ate little of his sandwich before he put it away again. At the questioning look he received the blonde smiled, “not really very hungry. Probably will be after sitting for a while though.”
Haise nodded, not wanting to make the other uncomfortable or upset, he continued to eat while watching the other out of the corner of his eyes. He watched as the other only seemed to grow paler and his breath came out shallower than normal, realization dawned on him and fear spiked.
In an instant he had his hand pressed to the others forehead and cursed at how hot it was, “Hide, you should have told me! We need to get you back to the village.”
Hide chuckled and shook his head, “must have taken longer to set in, was wondering when it would take hold though. Don’t worry, it won’t get bad until tomorrow. I was hoping to give Hinami a break before she had to go back into nurse mode but I guess not.”
He began to sway and Haise steadied him before lifting him in his arms, “I’m sorry for not noticing earlier.”
Hide wanted to tell him that it would be fine but found it hard to stay awake, he shivered slightly and huddled closer to the man. “Thanks.”
