Salamualykum. I love your bodyposi halaqa post and want to do something like it for my peers or younger kids. I'm 16. Suggestions? How'd you conduct it? Any info would help. Jazakallah khair!

I think it’s a great idea, it’s something that youth really deal with so much and can be dangerous to our health & faith!

I can send you my full halaqa if you like? It details exactly how I conducted it. Essentially I talked about body positivity in Islam, how to achieve it, and what to consider and why its important. I made the girls say positive things about themselves and welcomed them into discussion often in the halaqa.

Tips:

Research body positivity/self love

Get a group of girls who are comfortable around you and each other (for the most part - it’s not a comfortable topic)

Be honest with them about your struggles so they can open up to you about theirs

Shut down negativity and rudeness from girls to each other in polite ways
