This is the first album where Taylor‘s back is to us. If feels like it’s so symbolic, like how she is leading us on this journey through other people’s stories, not bringing us into her own

I do think there’s a pretty solid Scott Borchetta / Calvin Harris morphing-combining on this album. The idea of "I gave you everything and you gave me nothing” shouted in full.
I'm actually an asshole but I'm always really nice towards people so they'll never know.
everyone loves the pretty young thing
with stars in their eyes
worshiping the ground you walk on
Until life starts intervening
Changes you from the inside out
and the stars start to die....
that's when they abandon you.
Instead of reigniting a fire
from the hope that's left, before it's too late.
--And then they blame you for it
It is nine days until Lent and thirty-three days until the start of Ramadan. I can't help but think about but think about the people of Gaza in these two faith traditions and how they will be experiencing these important times of the year. Whether the rumoured forthcoming ceasefire happens, inshallah, or not the people of Gaza will still have months and years of mourning and trauma to contend with. As with Christmas being cancelled in Bethlehem, it is hard to imagine what Lent or Ramadan will be like in Gaza and the rest of occupied Palestine, as people either continue to flee the genocidal actions of Israel or return to their homes to begin the process of rebuilding.
Both Lent and Ramadan have traditions of almsgiving and zakat respectively so I will be trying to give more to Palestinian charities than I have been. Obviously I'll be continuing to attend protests and participate in the various boycotts as well. I just wish there was more that I could do.
i used to bring you flowers /once delicate now grow forever in my garden / wild and untamed / i tend to them with precision / each move purposeful yet tender / the same way i touched you / i held you / i loved you /
we used to move together / our steps intertwined as one / i wished only to grow with you / endlessly and free / but instead i grow alone / and think of you between the leaves.
