Supernatural Mafia AU: Hiro has a little power outside of those 40 minutes, but not much. Most of it is tied up in his aura, which, in between the desynchronozation, what it represents, and all the power building up in it, may or may not be becoming partially demonic. Which transfers to Hiro during those 40 minutes, so Hiro's basically, for 40 minutes a day, half demon. (No mental changes apart from the need to let off some of that power, but there's fractal frost patterns on him. )
Hiro always looks a little tired. He worries about the people he's protecting. He arranges things, keeps himself busy, is so used to being tired that he doesn't quite realise how little sleep he's getting. But San Fransokyo becomes known as the safest place in the lower USA for supernaturals, Yama or no Yama, because of Hiro's group. And when Hiro looks in the mirror each morning and sees the dark circles under his eyes, well, it's worth it.
Hiro keeps bringing home magic reagents like phoenix feathers and dragon or naga scales. Tadashi confronts him about it when he brings some a cup of naga venom. Turns out a naga gave it to him without comment. (It's like milking snakes, they bite a cup and the venom comes out their fangs and into the cup. ) Same with EVERYTHING ELSE.
I thought he was a witch? But now he’s a half-frost-demon-witch? Okay, half-frost demon!witch!mob boss!Hiro, I think that means he’s essentially Loki, right? XD
Poor Hiro. I’m sure it happens at least once that his underlings (minions? Nah, that term might have been ruined a bit for some people) basically all but drug him to get him to go to sleep just for sixty minutes, Hiro, come on the city will survive you sleeping one hour!
That’s what the naga venom is actually for. Aunt Cass can use it to mix up a potion to help him sleep, but he needs something as potent as naga venom because he’s a half-frost demon/witch. With void powers, so yeah, that affects the doses he needs.
