hello, int.
In its modern form with its modern meaning (i.e. "a greeting between persons"), this word is first attested very late, in 1848. This form of the word is an alteration from earlier hallo, first attested still quite late in 1781, which was "a shout used to call attention". Hallo is itself an alteration of earlier holla, which is attested from the 1580s as "a command for attention", and earlier from the 1520s as "a command to stop or halt".
The earliest form of the word appears to be hollo, which is attested from the late 14th century and is of unknown origin, possibly a corruption of French holà, which has been interpreted by Century Dictionary as a merger of ho, "a call for attention", and la, "there". Other related words include halloo, a verb meaning "to pursue with shouts", holler, another verb meaning "to shout", and possibly harou, a now-obsolete word borrowed from French in the late 13th century that means "a cry of distress".
The modern form and meaning of this word arose in the frontier country of the American West, where it was used as a greeting by travelers when approaching a homestead in the phrase, hello, the house. It rose to popularity in the 1880s with the rise of the telephone, favored over Alexander Graham Bell's suggestion of ahoy.
Previous to the rise of hello, common greetings included good morrow, good even/good e'en, how, hail, well met, save you/god save you, and various others.

I’ve been pretty good as of late. Got a new job after being fired and just focusing on school and big projects lol. I know I’ve barely been around, but I’m working on it and trying my best to keep up with everything. Being a senior is… scary to say the least.
Besides that, everything is all good. Just writing and drawing for the most part!! I hope that all of you are okay as well!! You guys really make my day and it would hurt to have any of you upset 😊😊😊😊☺️☺️☺️☺️ /gen
Expect a lot more content soon once I get everything together. Life like to fight back 😭😭
