I think the homestuck kids do not have proper concepts of monogamy. This means in my work there is not really one true Canon ship, they all just do what they want when they want.

With the alpha kids (and Jade), they did not exactly grow up with prime examples of a nuclear family in their faces. While they definitely were exposed to it and might have tried to internalize it, I don't think any of them understand it personally enough to actually practice.

Dirk in canon talks about how he dislikes labels on his queerness, and I really imagine he would dislike labels on his relationships as well. I think that even in my DirkHal AUs they don't call each other their romantic partners exactly, and I think even in those AUs they also engage with "romantic" behaviors with the others in their group. Granted, I think Dirk and Hal specifically would be kind of insane about each other engaging with the others that way, but that's not because they agree with monogamy it's because they are personally insane, and they force themselves to not say anything about it to each other because they both have minor/major denial about/don't want to "loose" by outwardly expressing their form of possessiveness towards each other.

I think because they don't put a label on their relationships, it wouldn't be unusual or unwanted for people in their group to casually engage in "romantic/sexual behaviors" just for enjoyment. If Roxy and Hal go on a date it doesn't mean Hal isn't still having her weird shit with Dirk, and it doesn't change that weird shit, it's just also a thing she does. Jane could totally kiss Dirk for fun and then also identify himself as in relationship with Roxy or someone else.

Even with the non alpha kids, I don't think labels are something they all really care to much.

I doubt Karkat and Dave would ever really say they are dating or partners, or let anyone else say it. But I think they would also obviously be a pair and be seen as a "package deal" by those around them. When asked about them June would just say something like "I don't know that they are dating or in any quadrant they're just.... them? They are just them, package deal, 2 for 1, do not separate." and leave it at that.

I don't fully agree with the choice in HSBC to have Jade and Roses relationship be something they had to hide (and then that deception upset Kanaya) because Kanaya is a troll, I truly think if Rose wanted to go do something with Jade she wouldn't be deeply upset about it. I think she totally would however he upset about Rose lying to her about it like was done in canon, so I do somewhat follow that plot line. She wouldn't care if she was told, but she wasn't told and now she's pissed sort of deal.

Where was I going with this? I don't know. Either way if you ever think "Boy howdy I wonder which ship is canon to TT and it's blog" the answer is all of them and none of them, I just create and engage with whichever one's peak my mind at the time, because honestly that's what I think the actual characters would do.
