Now, hans-sniekers-art over from Deviantart asked me about the ecology of the semi-aquatic dromaeosaur Halszkaraptor. Now, I'm no expert in this, but I did do some research (mainly on wikipedia), and here are some of my thoughts.
Halzskaraptor was, as stated before, semi-aquatic, and had a pretty small head. This means that it probably preyed on small prey, like fish, frogs, invertebrates and maybe small mammals. The animal was also fairly small, around the size of a Mallard duck, so it probably had to be on the lookout for larger animals that may have eaten them, like Velociraptor.
Now, the environment Halszkaraptor lived in, Djadochta formation, was somewhat arid, as the main sources of water were oases and seasonal riverbeds. This means that suitable habitats were hard to come by. However, Halszkaraptor had pretty long legs, and maybe Halszkaraptor could travel between suitable ponds like those running ducks.
So, we are probably looking at a small semi-aquatic cormorant-esque animal that was well adapted to an environment where good resources were scarce and predators were very abundant.
