한약 (han yak) Diet Update
So I’m not sure if I made a post about it on here, but I started doing a 한약 diet. So the way this works is you will go to a special traditional medicine clinic, they will give you a diet plan to follow and before your meals, you are supposed to drink a packet of han yak.
Let me tell you, this stuff tastes horrible!! My medicine is a little sweet and then super bitter. I’m hoping it will start to taste better in the long run but we will just have to wait and see.
When I went to the doctor, I got all of my stats taken and he told me about the diet plan. I’ve since talked to other friends who are doing/ who will do it and mine is the strictest of them all.
I was asked what my goal weight was. I started out weighing around 183 lbs or 83.3kg I think weighing around 150 lbs (68kg) to 155 lbs (70kg) would be healthy. The doctor said that a healthy weight for me would be closer to 140 lbs or 63kg. I feel like that may be too low for me. I remember when I had previously looked up healthy weights for my body type 140 was the lowest healthy weight.
I want to be American style healthy, not Korean style (aka super skinny). But who knows? Maybe once I get close to it, I will decide to try and lose more?
The doctor said that if I follow this program, I could reach my goal weight within 3 months. Due to scheduling difficulties, I decided that I will switch clinics after 1 month. (The current doctor is in Seoul, while I live near Daejeon.) I’m hoping that the new clinic I switch to will not give me such a strict diet plan.
I can already see results which is amazing! I am also making a point to make this a jump start into a healthier lifestyle! I know that with the body I have if I go back to eating unhealthy foods, I will end up gaining my weight back. So far I haven’t felt any intense cravings although it has been difficult when people purposefully try and tempt you with food you can’t eat. (rude >___>)
After finishing the 1st month, I will update you guys on my progress if anyone wants to know! (Or I’ll just do it for myself since that's what a blog is for)
