and now I present my ranking of all the transformers movies from worst to best in my opinion. (I’ll try to keep the explanation short but no promises because I talk a lot.)
9. The Last Night / Predacons Rising
I haven’t seen either of these movies (I still haven’t finished TFP either) so they have to go into the last slot until i actually get around to watching them. So 0/10 since I can’t technically rank either :(
I’m not a super huge Bayverse fan. It was fun to watch the first time but I wouldn’t watch it again. 2/10
it’s in the same boat as RoF but it’s one place higher because soundwave is there (I think he’s in dark of the moon I just know he and shockwave both died in this one) and the scene where Optimus is pouting and giving everyone the silent treatment is precious. 2/10
it’s a bay movie. It’s definitely one of the better ones imo. The first one was good but I just didn’t like it all that much. Probably cause I couldn’t tell what was happening during any of the fight scenes and the post credit scene where Sam and Mikayla, I think that how her name is spelled, are making out on top of bumblebee in his altmode. Like idk I was just like “yo! On top of your wing man? That’s crazy” but I digress. 3/10
favorite Bayverse movie. I like that the Dino bots are there and Optimus has his whole gay situationship with Cade. (I would maybe put it higher but it’s still a bay movie at its core and the whole “Romeo and Juliet law” thing was like grossly uncomfortable 😬) 4/10
I liked this one more than the bay movies because for one thing it was more character driven than plot driven and we got a lot of really sweet moments between Charlie and Bee. It’s not my favorite but I still like it and I would watch it again. Also I’m a sucker for a good soundtrack and this had a lot of good musical moments. 7/10
objectively it’s not as good as Bumblebee but I still like it. And I am easily swayed by things I like. So it got bonus points for 1. Having Unicron in it 2. Beast Wars yayyy! 3. Mirage and Noah being gay as hell the whole time 4. Noah being played by Anthony Ramos which feed my, now dormant, hyper fixation on Hamilton from when I was in middle school. (For context I still have the ENTIRE MUSICAL memorized word for word) 7.5/10
2. The Transformers: The Movie! (Aka the 96 movie):
remember how I said I was a sucker for a good sound track and I was easily sawed by things I like? Well this is it. It has a peak soundtrack and it’s got unicron in it! I still listen to the soundtrack and I’ve rewatched it a few times. It’s weird and funny and just pure 80s vibes. despite it absolutely traumatizing children when It released because they killed off literally all of the Autobots and Optimus died in a hospital bed it’s just really fun to watch. 10/10
the movie that got me invested in transformers in the first place. Beautiful story telling, musical score, visuals and all around just a good and fun movie. To date I’ve rewatched it a good 7 times and I still love it. 11/10
