Please explain to an oldie from the livejournal fanfic days what 'hamu' is? Because it sounds adorable. Thanks you!

It’s a shortened form of the Japanese hamusutā, which means ‘hamster’. Yeah, the animal. If you ever watched old school Cartoon Network you may be familiar with Hamtaro, which kind of puts into perspective the adorableness surrounding the word hamu. Specifically, @whumpbby has an AU idea where all the humans are anthropomorphised or have animal traits and in it Jason is a hamster-human. And it’s freaking adorable. I drew this for it a while ago.
