 Ölüm meleğimiz Lee Dong-Wook’u korkunç tilki rolünden sonra burada görmek beni çok mutlu etti. Dizi konusuna gelecek olursak; Ryu Soo-Yeol (Lee Dong-Wook) terfi bekleyen rüşvetçi bir dedektiftir. Görevini yükselmek için kendi çıkarlarına kullanan ve adalet duygusu olmayan bir karakteri vardır. Bir gün çıkarlarına ters düşen bir dava önüne geldiğinde, terfi alabilmek için olayı örtbas etmesi söylenir. Bu durum her ne kadar katılmasa da, işine geleceği için sorun değildir ama bu sefer kırmızı ceketli bir rakip motoruyla önünü keser. Hem gerçek anlamda hem de metaforik olarak karşısında bu adam vardır. Adalete karşı yaptığı her yanlış adımda Soo-Yeol’u tekme tokat döven bu adam kendine K (Wi Ha-Joon) demektedir. Soo-Yeol, K yüzünden hem parasını hem terfisini kaybedince onun peşine düşer.

İnanılmaz ama muhteşem bir ikili olmuşlar. Lee Dong-Wook ve Wi Ha-Joon’un beraber bu kadar iyi olacaklarını hiç düşünmezdim. Lee Dong-Wook, duygu geçişleri olsun, mimikleri olsun şahane bir oyunculuk ortaya koymuş. Wi Ha-Joon ise ondan aşağı kalmamış. İkisi de gerçekten yaptıkları işe inanmışlar gibi duruyor. Dizinin 12 bölüm olması bence yeterliydi. İzlerken biraz daha olsaydı keşke demedim. Senaryoda yoğun bir aşk hikayesi yoktu. Romantizm kısmı yerine aksiyona ağırlık verilmişti. Başta biraz acaba mı desem de bu şekilde olması baya hoşuma gitti. Beylere eşlik eden kadın oyuncu Han Ji-Eun olmuş. Lee Hee-Gyeom adında bir dedektifi canlandırıyordu. Lee Hee-Gyeom, Soo Yeol’un eski sevgilisidir. Aynı zamanda K’de ona çılgınca aşık olur.

Oyunculuklar ve oyuncuların dışında dizide en sevdiğim şey heyecanın canlı tutulması oldu. Diğer dizilerdeki birinci bölümde ortaya çıkan kötülüğün peşinde dizi sonuna kadar koşturan karakterler izlemedik. Her bölüm bir dava şeklinde değildi ama hikayeye sokulan her karakter için hikayesinin bir sonu vardı. Ve en güzeli gerçekten her bölüm sonunda bambaşka bir sürpriz ile bitiyordu. Hadi canım!!! Diyerek izledim.  

Lee Dong-Wook’u başarılı bulmamın haklı gururunu yaşadım. Bu diziyle bütün skilleri tavan yapmıştı. Wi Ha Joon’u ise bu kadar iyi olduğunu burada görüp ayrıca bir takdir ettim. Gerçekten dizi ile ilgili bu ikilinin becerileri dışında bir şey söylemek çok da istemiyorum. Her bölüm sürprizler ile dolu olduğu için ne desem tadını kaçırabilir.

Başarılı bir senaryo, şahane oyunculuklar ve renkli karakterler ile tanıştık. Bu ikilinin dışındaki yan rollerinde hakkını vereyim, hiçbir karakter eğreti durmuyordu. Hepsi birbirinden farklı sıkmayan ve hikayeye katkı sağlayan rollerdi. Hatta garip ama kötü karakterler bile güzeldi. Dizilerdeki 9 canlı kötü karakter kalıbını kırmış, hikayede böylelerine yer vermemişler. Kötüleri izlerken bile içiniz daralmıyor, siniriniz bozulmuyor. Ve daha da güzeli her karakterin ve olayın arasındaki bağlantı mantıklı bir şekilde oturuyordu. Mantık hatalarına yer vermemişlerdi.

Çok beğendim, çok beğendiğim için çok uzun yazıp tadını kaçırmak istemiyorum.

WooKun Kim - Bad n Crazy

Seeing our "Angel of Death," Lee Dong-Wook, in this drama after his terrifying role in A Tale of Gumiho made me incredibly happy. Now, let’s talk about the plot: Ryu Soo-Yeol (played by Lee Dong-Wook) is a corrupt detective waiting for a promotion. He’s the kind of character who uses his position for personal gain and lacks any sense of justice. One day, a case that goes against his interests lands on his desk, and he’s told to cover it up to secure his promotion. While he doesn’t fully agree with it, he doesn’t mind since it benefits him—until a rival on a red motorcycle cuts him off, both literally and metaphorically. This man, who calls himself K (played by Wi Ha-Joon), beats Soo-Yeol to a pulp every time he takes a step away from justice. After losing both his money and his promotion because of K, Soo-Yeol sets out to track him down.

The duo turned out to be unbelievably fantastic. I never would have thought Lee Dong-Wook and Wi Ha-Joon would have such incredible chemistry. Lee Dong-Wook delivered a stellar performance, with flawless emotional transitions and expressions. Wi Ha-Joon was equally impressive, matching him step for step. Both actors seemed fully committed to their roles. The drama’s 12-episode run felt just right—I never found myself wishing it were longer. There wasn’t a heavy focus on romance, which was a refreshing change. Instead, the emphasis was on action, and while I had my doubts at first, I ended up loving this approach. The female lead, Han Ji-Eun, played Detective Lee Hee-Gyeom, Soo-Yeol’s ex-girlfriend. Interestingly, K also develops a wild infatuation with her.

Aside from the acting and the cast, what I loved most about the drama was how it kept the excitement alive. Unlike other shows where the characters chase after the same villain from the first episode to the last, this one didn’t follow that formula. While not every episode revolved around a new case, every character introduced had a complete story arc. And the best part? Each episode ended with a jaw-dropping surprise that left me exclaiming, “No way!” as I watched.

I felt a justified sense of pride in Lee Dong-Wook’s success. His skills were at their peak in this drama. As for Wi Ha-Joon, I gained a whole new level of respect for him after seeing how good he was here. Honestly, I don’t want to say much more about the drama itself because every episode is packed with surprises, and I don’t want to spoil anything.

We were treated to a well-written script, brilliant performances, and vibrant characters. Even the supporting roles were perfectly cast—no character felt out of place. Each one was distinct, engaging, and contributed meaningfully to the story. Strangely enough, even the villains were enjoyable. The drama broke away from the cliché of “unkillable villains” and avoided making them overly frustrating. Watching the antagonists didn’t make me feel tense or annoyed. What’s more, the connections between the characters and events were logically sound, with no glaring plot holes.

I loved it so much that I don’t want to ramble on and risk spoiling the experience. Just know that it’s a must-watch!

Lovestruck in the City

Wow! I really enjoyed this series! I laughed, sighed and went through all the emotions along with the characters. I like how these six “random” people are participating of a study and are being interviewed about different topics related to relationships and they can see what each says but don’t know who is saying them, sort of. And you know, some of them know each other and don’t know that they are part of this thing.

It is through this series of interview that we learn about these characters’ relationships. The combination of seeing them in those interview and then in their every day situations gives us their reality and their feelings, perceptions. I loved Park Jae Won and Lee Eun Oh’s story. And Seon Yeong’s thing with Geon. It’s kind of ironic how the couple with the 5 years relationship ends up breaking up the same day Jae Won and Eun Oh get back together. 

The one thing that sort of threw me off was the last episode. We’ve been seeing the two policemen interact with the interviewers before and they have been part of the story but they haven’t been part of the main focus and then all of a sudden, that last episode focuses more on Dong Shik than on our main characters. I wanted to see more of Jae Won and Eun Oh now that they are finally together, I wanted to see Rin Ih and Kyeong Joon - how they dealt with the situation. So it was kind of disappointing in that respect. But overall, I really loved the story. 

I would watch the series again.

I have a lot of feelings (Lovestruck In the City ep 10-contains spoilers)

Eun-oh and Jae-won still have feelings for each other! 

Now we know why Eun-oh disappeared. I love how Rin-i and Kyung-joon were so protective of Eun-oh and beat up the guy that wrecked her. I wonder what would have gone down if Geon was there to complete the trio (of Eun-oh’s friends). I hope Kyung-joon and Jae-won can do damage control. I also wonder how Jae-won would react to the ex-fiance’s transgressions once it sets in that the victim was person he loves was. I hope we get her full story soon. 

I wonder when Eun-oh’s friends are gonna realize or find out that she’s Yoon Seon-a. Geon might figure it out. 

Seeing Jae-won slowly put the pieces together and figure out that the Miss Lee of the marketing mock ups, the Eun-oh whose honor Rin-i and Kyung-joon were defending, and the Lee Eun-o from the police station are all the same person was so satisfying. When he hesitated over the phone I yelled CALL HER. Makes me so sad that Jae-won thinks Eun-oh is dating another guy. I’m so distressed. I’m going to be carrying that tension with me until it resolves in the show–so like, for days.

But he’ll be so happy and smug when he finds out she’s not dating anyone. Boy can’t keep a straight face. 

Eun-oh needs a hug. She probably needs a hobby or to go do something, like go for a run or go volunteering or something. She has too much time on her hands to wallow in self-misery and lost-love. Somebody hire her, please! When Geon pointed out her ring necklace my heart ached. And she finally revealed she still ardently loves Jae-won when she spilled her heart to the garbage disposal guy. I want her anguish to resolve. Hopefully she’ll get the chance to tell everything to Jae-won soon. I think even if he weren’t to accept her or forgive her, explaining everything to him will allow her to release everything that has her choked up until now. What she regrets most is not being honest with Jae-won and consequently breaking his heart. Eun-oh probably feels guilty for lying to him because she thinks what she did to Jae-won is like what ex did to her. When Jae-won does welcome her back to him, she won’t allow herself to go to him until she forgives herself for her transgression. I think this will probably be a process that occurs between the two of them over time. 

Jae-won feels very strongly, but doesn’t know how to hold back or manage his emotions healthily, whereas Eun-oh feels so strongly that she tries to hide or ignore everything. They gotta balance each other out. I’m waiting for their tension and longing to explode. Hopefully by making out. It’ll be so satisfying to watch. Though I really want them to end together, if the show takes a bittersweet turn and they don’t end up together, I would be okay with that. I think the ‘happy ending’ is that they loved and changed each other. Since we haven’t seen them together very much in the present and the only time that we do is in emotionally reactive situations, I don’t know if they would still have as good a relationship as when they were at the beach. I hope we find out soon, as in, the next episode. I’m itching to watch their romantic and sexual tension in the present timeline. 

There wasn’t very much Sun-yeoung in this episode. Hopefully there’ll be more in the next. I just want her to realize she was wrong about Geon having romantic/sexual feelings for his best friends. I want her to admit it to Geon. I don’t care so much if they get back together or not, but I love their energy when they’re in the same room and I want to see more of it. I want to see more of her in person with the other characters. She’s had the fewest interactions with the other characters. Maybe one of the other girls (Rin-i or Eun-oh) will go to her for help with Eun-oh or love advice, respectively. I wonder how she’d react.
