For Christmas last year my Mom got me a set of Prismacolor “Premiere” double-sided markers and something inside of me decided now was the time to finally play around with them, so I drew my version of Dracula from OverBite.

Normally when I draw, my right hand really starts to hurt, and I get nasty flare-ups of my carpal tunnel, but I think that’s just because my computer desk is too high up. If I set the paper on a TV tray, which is a good 2-3 inches lower, it seems to help a lot. Angle is important when it comes to art, kids.

I also didn’t have any grays when I started this -- the set of markers normally retails for $90 (she apparently got it on a much deeper discount) and comes with 48 colors, but not a single one of them were any shade of gray. I ended up ordering three shades of gray (Cool Gray 50%, Natural Gray 50%, and Cool Slate) but realized two of those were very similar, so a few hours later, I ended up also adding Natural Gray 90%, which turned out to be a mistake because that’s essentially just black.

Learning how to use these is definitely a new challenge, especially when it comes to shading. I’m not happy with the way his pants or shoes turned out, for instance. His pants in particular were me trying to blend purple and gray together, but instead they just look splotchy and weird.

So for the final art this year, these were requests from my friend for exza with each of the sides, (exza is nonbinary tbw) So they said normal interactions with how she would be with the different sides, so we have patton being a good 'dad', Roman and Exza fighting since exza does Viking reenactment, just hanging out with deceit, reading harry potter with Logan and hanging out with Virgil (they requested the shop that came up in one of my roleplay stories, sorry... :/) so exza stole Virgil's jacket ovc. My friend requested to remain anon - which they usually do with requests. Exza is my main OC, based a lot on myself, she loves putting her into different fandoms and such...
