Impressions of You in the Force
“The fire flickered at her feet, blazing a golden orange that cast shadows onto the inner walls of the hut she found refuge in. She huddled under the thin tweed blanket, crouching on one of the wooden barrels propped next the fire pit. She was still shivering from her tumble into the icy waters of the cave, impatiently begging the low flames to warm her trembling body faster.
She recognized him materializing out of the corner of her eye— that familiar echoing sensation that would soon after block out all noise in her surroundings signaling to her seconds before he appeared.
She wondered if it was different for him on his end, or if the force spoke to him the same way it did to her every time they flickered into each other’s existence.
Annoyed at how inconvenient his interruptions were becoming she ignored him, keeping her eyes trained on the flames. She wished he would stop showing up out of nowhere, that he’d just go away and leave her alone, even though logically, she knew he had as little control over this bond as she did. Still, her emotional capacity was drained for the night, and all she wanted was to be alone.
Apparently, he didn’t feel the same.”
